SOURCE: hp deskjet 6980 blinking lights

ok so for this situation you have to do a cold reset, and by this you have to go ahead while the printer is still power on, disconnect the power cord in back of the printer, and wait for about two minutes. power on the printer if printer still has the blinking lights then go to step 2.

step 2-after this check the printer if light are still blinking, then your going to remove all printheads, remove paper, and then unplug printer power cord from printer and also from the wall outlet, wait for 20 seconds, then power on the printer, wait for light to flash then install the printheads, put paper, and press the resume button.
*** always connect your printer to a wall outlet never to a power strip, the power strip robs some of the power from the printer***
and this should fix the problem if it doesnt then the carriage might me malfunctioning . hp recently did a recall on some printer with the 6940 and some of the 6980, that the carriage broken.

Hope this help!

My HP 6940 will not print envelpes. They feed part way through and stop. Doesn't even begin to print. Other documents print fine.

sdc323, first you want to make sure you have the correct drivers. Check here Normally you will have to uninstall the old drivers completely ...then reinstall the correct or updated drivers. Also, sometimes it depends on what program you are using to print the envelope (MS Word or Avery Design Pro, etc). What type of computer Operating system (Win XP,Vista, or Mac OS X) are you using? And what program are you using to print it? For a quick try at making it work, when the printer stops part way through, try pressing the resume (or enter) button. On occasion that will finish the print job.

HP Deskjet 610CL

This is the resume button. If it is blinking and the power light is steady and if just installed a print cartridge, make sure the cartridge is securely snapped into the printer with the arrow aligned with the dots on the top of the printer cartridge cradle.
Close the top cover of the printer if it is open.
Check the lower (IN) tray to make sure it contains paper and that the paper is correctly loaded in the tray.
Press resume to clear the error condition. Then check your computer screen for any reported error message and corrective action instructions.
If the resume and power lights are blinking - press the power button to turn off the printer. At the computer, cancel any documents awaiting printing. Then press power button again to turn on computer. Good luck from Lady Isobel.

HP Deskjets - What are the front panel lights and buttons on the 800 series printers?

Check the End of warranty date on both the cartridges.
Deskjet 882c printer does not support reserve mode printing.
Means, even if only cartridge is defective or expired the printer will not print with other cartridge which is fine.

Both the cartridges should in inwarranty and fine.
Shake the cartridges well
With the color and black cartridges touch a clean, slightly damp cloth (squeeze out excess water),
to the printer nozzle area on the print cartridge, to see if you can make the ink flow freely.

Be careful not to touch the nozzle area (with holes on it) on the cartridges.
Wipe the copper-colored electrical contacts with a clean distilled water or clean tap water and then with a dry lint-free cotton cloth
Also using a new swab, clean the electrical contacts inside the printer, in the carriage.

Install both the cartirdges in the printer, disconnect the printer from the computer and try to print a self test and diagnostic page

Running a sample page
Turn the printer on.
Press and hold the RESUME button until the printer starts printing.
Release the RESUME button.

Running a diagnostic test
Turn the printer on.
Press and hold the POWER button.
Press the RESUME button four times.
Release the POWER button.

Deskjet 895Cse is "sucking" paper in and stalling

Sounds like the printer is getting a bad command from the driver. Try upgrading your driver. Also it may be a bad document. Copy and Paster your text into a new document to see if it clears the corruption.

Flashing resume light also can mean:

1. cartridge is missing or an incorrect print cartridge is installed
2. cartridge is out of ink
3. dirty cartridge contacts
4. paper jammed

Check are cartridges firmly snapped into place and not empty. Use water to wash copper on cartridges if contacts are dirty.
