I took my dad's Audi in because the turn signal indicators only worked intermittently. They replaced the the turn signal switch but that did not fix it. They then replaced the emergency flasher switch. That fixed the signals but when I left the transmission shifted ******* the way home. This morning it shifted hard and clunky at every stop. (gave it gas... did not shift gears... then shifted gears really hard and clunky)... I want to know if the switches they replaced could be related to the transmission at all? My Dad said once in a while it would shift hard when it was cold but this was the entire 15 minute drive.
SOURCE: left turn signal is blinking fast, where is the relay located at?
You did not say if the right signal blinks ok or not. Assuming it blinks like the left, the best way to find the blinker is to leave the engine off but the key switch on and turn your blinker on. Now LISTEN and you should hear the clicking. If the right side blinker is normal then you may have a bad turn signal bulb or ground to one of the signal bulbs. An easy way to check your turn signal bulbs is to turn on your emergency flashers and look at the bulbs, they all should blink at the same time and with the same brightness. Good Luck

Silly question: Have you checked the transmission fluid level, and is it to manufacturer's spec?
SOURCE: Audi A8 transmission trouble
Hi, first i would check the fluid level if it is not a sealed trans. if the fluid level is ok, it may be that the TCM(transmission Control module is malfunctioning. this module controls the actual shift points. the TCM sends the shift signal to the shift solenoids that are located inside the transmission pan. these shift solenoids preform the engagements of the gears on command, which is initiated by this module i speak of. this module may be damaged,in return, causing this confusion in the shifting patterns you are experiencing.

if you replaced the wiper switch and this problem occured, you have a bum switch or the wrong one.
Testimonial: "Thank you very much! Like what you said, another used wiper switch solved this problem. Thanks!"
