This is usually a sign of bad ram. remove the ram cover underneath, pull aside the pop out clips and remove the ram. hold the ram by its side and try not to touch the 'gold fingers'. Clean it / them with a soft clean paint brush along with their holders and re-insert. If this does not work and you have 2 sticks of ram then try each one on its own in one slot, then the other slot, turning on each time to identify the faulty module.
If this is no joy I would suspect the CPU. It could also be the motherboard video chip which is not repairable without a new motherboard but this is doubtful as it is not a common fault on this laptop.
Hope this helps some.

Just a thought, it could also be the internal battery needs replacing if it does boot the second time round. Do you have to redo the time settings when Windows starts?

You can replace it yourself if you are reasonably competent at repairing things. Here is a link to download the service manual for free.

No nothing like that should happen it maybe because when you plug it in it gets a jolt of power because there maybe a battery short and it all discharges, and it gets a jolt and attempts to boot up but fails, you may want to check the battery otherwise it could just be a simple flaw that could require bringing it into the repair shop

Pls., connect a good external monitor first, if the problem persists, then replace the memory chips with good ones.

I have seen this type of problem before. Question have you tryed pluging in an exterinal monitor on that laptop? If you have the same problem with the external monitor then the problem is on the mother board somewere. If the problem goes away with the external monitor then the problem is in the lcd display.

No monitor n620c loptop

To switch between monitor modes (internal/external) you have to press the key combination Fn+F4 (or F8) or the F key with a dual monitor icon printed on it. This happens when you use the laptop with an external monitor or projector, and you forget to return to the internal monitor mode.

Check your floppy drive and see if there's a disk in it and remove it. If there is no diskette in the floppy drive and you are still getting the error. You can go into the Bios and turn off the "boot from floppy drive", that way it will not look for the floppy drive when booting up. Hope this helps.

Cannot locate ram on compaq EVO N620c

The RAM is located under a panel on the LHS of the touchpad.
You need a thin blade/knife to slip under this panel to lift it up and out. It is clipped in with plastic catches on the panel.
