Intermittant failure LED display of my TEAC SR-L50 Clock Radio
Each digit on display is made up of 7 lights. One of the digits has an intermittant problem with the top and bottom horizontal light. It appears to be associated with humidity. All through winter it behaves fine, but as soon as the humidity increases in summer I lose those two lights. It is the secong digit that is faulty and being a clock radio it means you cant tell what hour it is. I would like to know whether it is a faulty part, bad connection or just a ideosyncracy of larger LED displays.

Re: intermittant failure LED display of my TEAC SR-L50...
Offhand, the failure of the 2 segments would seem to be intermittent (granted affected by humidity). Technically, I would suspect a case of cold solder. They could be replaced or if you know somebody who could solder, then it is a matter of re-heating the joints and adding a dab of soldering lead.
