The link also provides a verification test using the movie function. BUT THE OFFER EXPIRES 3/31/2010. === It has come to our attention that a limited number of products, manufactured before March 2004, and incorporating a certain type of image sensor device (CCD), may exhibit the following:
  • When the product is used in camera mode, the LCD panel2_bing.gif and/or electronic viewfinder exhibits either a distorted image or no image at all.

We have determined that this only occurs in a limited number of devices, but may be accelerated if they are exposed to hot and humid environments.
Until March 31, 2010, Sony will repair, free of charge, the following product models exhibiting the above-mentioned symptom where it is caused by the image sensor device:
  • DSC-F717
  • DSC-T1

My SONY DSC-T1 camera display is balck when trying

There may be the issue with the CCD (image sensor device) of the Camera.

Refer this article to confirm this:

Check whether the LCD screen of the Camera looks similar as given on the page.

If yes, click on the "Yes" button at the end of the page to create an online Repair Request for sending the Camera to the Sony Factory Service Center.
