Question about SanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 Player

1 Answer

Possibly a power management/battery issue

I had mine for about 5 months and loved it. It was pretty sturdy considering the numerous times it fell from my lap. Two days ago it stopped turning on, even after being connected for hours. Saw from another site a disassembled picture from it. I opened it up and noticed that the red(+) connection from the battery had disconnected. I soldered it back on, charged it up and it was good as always (after formatting the the memory). Today, it stopped working again (even though it's still accessible through usb and all the power leads are connected). It must be some kind of problem with the power management or battery.

Not necessarily a battery issue - these players are plagued with problems.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to the Sandisk website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out.
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

Car does not arm or disarm when door opened alarm goes off

Hi, I love the viper. Mine worked flawlessly for many years until one time my unit would not arm or disarm. Obviously 1st I checked batteries which were good. I took mine to installer and they said I had a remote go bad. He got me new remote and that was it. Sometimes I wonder if somehow I managed to hit a factory reset sequence on my remote. Considering your also having an issue with door contacts as well, I would hope it's not the main unit. My system also had a special override switch in the footwell, if you have one, perhaps you may have switched accidentally. Hope this helps in troubleshooting.

Put the battery on wrong, now it won't crank. do not hear the fuel pump coming on. please help

If you hooked the battery up backwards, you probably smoked a lot of stuff. Maybe you should consider taking your Blazer to a professional for an evaluation before you start trying to fix stuff.

Are replacement batteries for sony nwz a829 easy to change mine is not holding charge now and would i lose all my stored items on said device

Replacement batteries are available on Amazon. Turn the A829 over and remove the one recessed screw at the top centre of the back case. You will then be able to slide this part off. Careful not to lose the shield that may fall off underneath this cover.
You will now find two screws underneath holding the rest of the back cover on and also two at bottom. A set of philips watchmaker's screwdrivers plus tweezers will be helpful. Put screws in safe place.
Fully remove the back and you will find the battery which has a small connector on the lead held in place by a strip of adhesive tape. Remove connector and battery and replace with the new battery. Put tape back on the connector and then replace back of MP3 player in the reverse order that you took it off. The shield that fell off on mine fits in top centre of device - mine fell off and I had to work out where it came from!
Hopefully these directions will help you

Pretty much the same issue except mine worked for about 2 months

USB is sometimes seems strange; once a device is found by the device manager, it does not repeat the 'new hardware found' routines UNLESS it is plugged into a different USB port. You can go through Control Panel to the System manager, and delete the USB device from the hardware list. Then plugging it back int will trigger the hardware manager to re-initialize it.

If it's less than a year old, it's still under warranty. Exercise that warranty and contact Canon support.
