Can you provide details of repair person in Christchurch, NZ

  • tadhg0307 Nov 22, 2008

The fan spins ok, no resistance. When I turn unit on it has a process of checking the player/recorder before it switches itself on. Checking system starts when power is switched on, but it just loops to startup so doesn't get to end of process, and power doesn't start the unit. It's not something covered in the troubleshooting section of manual. So I think I need to take to service agent but warrenty is out of date so may be costly. Thanks for suggestion,

Panasonic Fans on Burners are not always on they are temp. set meaning when the temp. reaches a certain heat index fan kicks on now you may open the unit and manually turn the fan if it has resistance or a scratching noise then the bearings might have dried and needs fan replaced

DVD just locks up after about an hour of play

The DVD Player is overheating, dont have other hot machines under it, let it cool down naturaly and whatever you do, DON'T try to cool it quickly with a fan or vacuum cleaner becasue the fast temperature change will crack the internal components.

I have noticed that the cooling fan does not work on my bdp-S350 and am wondering if it only works depending on temperature, would greatly appreciate your help, thanking you in advance. Austin Donnelly,...

The cooling fan on your BDP-S350 should work all the time, because the system gets very hot in just a few minutes. Try playing a Blu Ray disc with the volume down, with in 10 minutes the fan should start running if not you have a defective fan or control electronics. Try spinning the blade of the fan when its on with a non conductive material ( tooth pick ).
But if the fan starts running with in 10 minutes of the movie ( Bluray ) all is OK and your system has a thermal sensor built in. Its done to prevent you hearing the wind noise during a quite passage of a movie ( some find it annoying ).

The fan is thermostatically controlled - it only works when the unit gets hot. The hotter it gets, the faster the fan spins.

Picture sticks, breaks up repeatedly

Change the location of the unit, this sounds like an overheating problem. It is too close to other units or is enclosed in a tight space. You may also try putting a small fan behind it to cool it down.

Unit sounds like it has a small cooling fan at the rear. A bad fan bearing will produce a noise when dried-out. Replace the cooling fan.
