Question about Hoover HCA390K Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
I believe that the freezer temp is regulated by the fridge in this model. When fridge is at the correct temp then the freezer only gets to about -5. And turning the fridge dial lower makes things better but the fridge freezes too. We had some problem (can't remember what it was) several years ago in its second year and the guy who came out switched over some big unit at the base (compressor?) for an older type saying that this worked better. It did stop the original problem but it has never got down to a decent temp.
If the fridge side is frozen you have a door seal issue.
If the freezer side is frozen you have a defrost component issue.
Your post was not clear as to which side is frozen.

To solve this problem, you must open the compressor area at the back bottom of the refrigerator and chek the temperature of the pressure line. If the temperature is between 55celcius to 60 than its ok. Or else you need to change the refrigerant.
I suggest you to contact the service authority.
