Question about HP Photosmart R607 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Unable to reach live mode, it says "no devices connected to camera dock".

Hello, my sister bought this camera and she is a stereotypical blonde and for some reason thought it would be safe for a camera beside a sink. She said it had sat in water (not emersed, just the bottom) for maybe an hour. I asked for it because it would not come on anymore and I like fixing things. I opened the casing and felt a little intimidated by the amount of complicated circutry. I opened it to let it dry incase it still had water in it. I reset it. Then with the AC cord plugged in it came on with a red screen stating "no devices connected to camera dock". I could access the menu and everything. It seemed to work fine, but I could not find this error message in the manual. The lense will not come out and I can not enter live mode or record video or take pictures. I do not have the dock and from what I understand that is an accessory and my sister did not order it. Also it does work without the AC cord but not for long. thank you for your time. ,Jesse

Will not let me upload pics says camera not connected to usb port

The error indicates that the computer is not getting an understandable signal from the camera (or dock if you are using one). The solution will be in discovering why the signal isn't getting through, or deciding that the camera or dock is defective.

Verify that the camera battery is charged. Then turn all devices (computer, dock and camera) off. Remove every cable and wire between computer and camera. Unplug power to the dock.

Examine each connection carefully. Look for dirt, bent pins, loose connections, or anything "strange". Look at the bottom of camera too, where it sits on the dock.

Reconnect the wires and cables, power everything up and see if any improvement.

If no improvement and you have WinXP or Vista, Do a System Restore back to a date when the camera connection was working. Restart and check for improvement.

If no improvement, check computer update history. Have any Microsoft updates been applied since the last time the camera connection worked? If so back them off and check for improvement.

If no improvement or no MS updates, decide that the camera or dock are defective and return them. Unfortunately, electronics sometimes fail. If you like the camera, give a replacement a chance.

Take the memory card out of the camera and copy the pics through a card reader.

Good Luck

In reference to my Kodak DX7590 camera. I'm sitting here 2 older batteries, and 2 new batteries that I just bought, and no matter which battery I put in the camera, none will turn the camera on. If I...

Hello Terry, Sounds like you have answered your own question, it sounds as if the contacts inside the battery box are either corroded or damaged. If you look down inside the battery box you will see three contacts, look close for corrosion or damage.

Wont charge

That does like the battery is not making a good connection to the camera,

when it in the dock it being powered by some other connection, right, so it works okay , however when using the battery only, it don't work, check the connection(s) inside the battery compartment.

Unable to use camcorder's built-in microphone with PC

I believe it can. I have been reading the user manual to the device and have read chapter 10. PC Cam Mode.

Currently, I'm charging the battery. And once that's done, I'll be testing it out for that purpose.

I'll give you the results once that's done. Stay tuned.

Vivicam 5340s camera dock

You can't charge the camera with the USB cord because the camera dosn't have a charger built inside. You need to use an external charger. Here is a link showing several sites that have battery chargers for this camera.
