Microwave will shut down after 59 sec, time remains. Must press start again and will run 59 sec more. Doesn't require cool down. Every other aspect is working fine. Ordered new control unit and replaced but same problem still there.
-   Sharp R-1874 With same problem, shuts down after 59 seconds. Ordered damper motor. When it arrives I'll open the case and see if its readily accessible. From the exploded view, it appears to be on the right side of the unit, behind the control panel. Also note that there is a high energy capacitor in the microwave that can store a substantial charge so unplug for at least an hour before disassembling and still be careful what you touch. -   MrRat

-   Our R-1870 had the same problem. Replacing the $10 damper motor fixed it. The tech said it COULD have been the control circuitry, the damper itself, or the microswitch that the damper hits, but it was in fact the motor.-   Guest
Sounds like someone else got it already, I just got the phone with sharp tech support for the exact same problem, and they said to replace the damper motor and switch if the board didn't do it. Good Luck!

It was the damper motor. $10 part fixed it. Thanks
It might also be a problem with the humidity sensor or a problem with the control panel, such as corrupted code or bad connections.

- I just wanted to update this reply since it's so popular:
This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door.
The damper is a door located on the right side of the innards. The damper closes and opens depending on cooking mode.
If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

My Sharp 1850 A has stopped heating with the microwave - just makes a loud buzzing noise. All other features seem to work. Made a loud pop noise when the number pad was pushed right before it stopped working. Any ideas? Is it worth having someone out to look at it for repair?

My Sharp 520KS-T stopped working.Light does not come on when door is opened. Is there a fuse in this model or a reset button. It may have encountered some power surges which might have caused it to stop working. It was not being used at the time.

I was using the convection feature and half way through, it stopped heating. The light still works, the fan still runs, but the convection doesn't work, the microwave doesn't work and the turntable doesn't work. Happened all at once. Could this be a fuse?

The Sharp Microwave R-1850A oven light is inop. The oven is
installed in 2000 Alpine cabinet where access is only in front and
bottom. To replace the bulb I need to remove the screw from the louver.
Top center. Only way I can see to do this is remove the whole oven.
Removed screws on both sides from the bottom and a hinged full bottom
cover swings down to the back. There is a large bolt at a forty-five
degree angle on both sides of the oven. Do I need to remove these bolts
to remove the oven? Thank you.
