Re: DCP-130C COLOR INKJET
When inserting a new cartridge, you may receive a prompt
"The installed ink cartridge differs from the original ink cartridge for the printer. Your printouts may be different from those printed using original ink cartridges. Do you want to continue using the currently installed ink cartridge?"
If you click Yes, printing will continue. If you select No, you will be prompted to change the cartridge. Manufacturer prompts may vary.

When the printer says "install C" it is referring to the Cyan (blue) ink cartridge. If this is not a new cartridge, you might have to replace it. If this is a new cartridge, try following these steps.
1. Unplug the power cable. 2. Remove all 4 ink cartridges. 3. Close the ink cover 4. Plug the power back in. 5. Wait for the machine to warm up and tell you that the ink is empty. 6. Reinsert all 4 ink cartridges.
If you keep getting the same message you should try another cartridge. You can put the yellow cartridge in the blue spot to see if you get the same message. If you get the same message then the machine is broken. If you get a new message then the cyan cartridge needs to be changed.
Goto the printer settings page and change the settings to print in black . Normally it is set for color - when color and black will print - You will find the question Print in Color Or Black Each has a check box. Check the box for black. With this setting, everything will print in black including the color text and graphics. Most printers let you do this. However, some printers keep telling you to replace the color cartridge.
The problem is that the priter can't detect the ink, because the cartridge has low level ink. I put scotch tape and colored it yellow- on the part where the ink is detected - so the printer will detect the color I put on the tape. BUT as others said it can damage your printer if you will always do this.
If you replaced an ink cartridge before the LCD shows Near Empty or Ink Empty, the LCD will ask you to verify that it was a brand new one. (For example, Did You Change Blck?) For each new cartridge you installed, press up navigation key or 1 or "+" to select Yes to automatically reset the ink dot counter for that color. If the ink cartridge you installed is not a brand new one, be sure to press the down navigation key or 2 or "-" to select No.
Here is the manual, you can download it and go to the routine maintenance section.
