Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

Honeywell rth7400 keeps turning furnace on

I just installed a Honeywell RTH7400. I did go through and make sure the settings are for my furnace (2 stage heat 1 stage cool). I have the heat set at 62 and the temperature says its currently at 62 but it keeps kicking in anyway. It will stay off for about a minute or so and then kick right back in. I know this can't be saving me energy. Help!!

    I have the t-stat set at 66 and 68 for different times of the day and for different days. However, the furnace runs for a few minutes, then shuts down and within 30 - 40 seconds it starts up again.

Honeywell thermostat blows cold air on heat

Thermostats don't actually blow anything, the heating system might though. Check the breakers for your heat system, then call a heating specialist. They're really not that expensive.

New thermostat honeywell RTH7400 cycles oil furnace every 10 min.

rth7400 maintains a 1 degree differential in temp so 10 minute cycles are not unusual.

Where does the T Wire go on the RTH7400

the t wire is for an outdoor anticipator reset. If you dont have a terminal on your thermostat it does not have to be used. Just tape it off.

RTH7400 thermostat installed-screen display unlit-used page 10 wire installation. Used heat pump wiring-which does not show W2 and Y2 on heat pump schematic, so used conventional displayed W2 and Y2...

w2 and y2 are used for 2stage applications

w2 = 2 stage heat
y2= 2 stage cool

If your system is a single stage system, look for the y1 and y2 terminals. If the thermostat does not have y1 and y2 then you may have the wrong thermostat. As always, please read the directions carefully. Thanks!

Changing Thermostats

This is one where you will need a good control man or woman. The American Standard ASYST system is not intended for the homeowner to change out. It has a room sensor wire that others do not account for.

Honeywell 5+2 day programmable thermostat will keep heating to 29 degrees!

Is sounds like you wired it correctly, The black is a little unusual perhaps its blue, anyway, try disconnecting the wires from the thermostat and see if it shuts off. If so, then it may need to re calibrated. I will need some more info to help you anymore.
