Sharp el506d calculator has the decimal in the wrong place.

Need to reset the calculator so the decimal is in the correct position, but I no longer have the owner's manual.

Try pressing the FSE button to switch between Fixed, Scientific, Engineering, and Normal displays. When in Fixed display, you can use <2ndF> < TAB > then enter a number from 0 to 9 to choose the number of decimal places in that display. To reset EVERYTHING to factory defaults: With the calculator off, press and hold these three keys: <2ndF> < ) > < ON/C > then release all three. The calculator will go through a series of tests (it takes a few seconds) and then be at its factory defaults. I have uploaded the manual for this calculator at www.theusermanualsite.com.

How to I stop my sharp EL-531X calculator from rounding when converting from decimal to scientific notation?

You need to select the number of decimal places you would like, or if you would like the calculator to behave as normal. Press SET UP and select FSE (press 1) . You now have 5 options.
0: FIX means you can choose a fixed number of decimal places for every calculation.
1: SCI means scientific notation and choose the number of significant values you would like to deal with.
2: ENG means engineering and the power goes up in multiples of 3.
3: NORM1 and 4: NORM2 are the usual or normal settings on the calculator. Most school calculations will use NORM1 mode.

I have this really big and werid problem with my sharp calculator. Its the scientific notation where i am solving this physics problem, but its just the part where im putting it into my calculator which is...

You need to update this calculator. You can do that by clicking here! The previous model Sharp used a 10 digit accuracy and, 2 digit limit for exponents. Us young guys would watch the instructor crunch his math with out putting the zeros in. And then when he gave the answer he would just simply add the zeros back in. If you don't see any improvement after you update, I just may recommend you to do the same. You do know the 5 decimal places isn't your only problem, Right! You have a correct answer problem too. Unless it is a typo.

I lost my decimal point

You need to be in add mode, and have 2 decimal places selected for the result.
To change to add mode, make sure the 'K . A' switch is in the 'A' position. To get 2 decimal places in the answer, move the selector in the 'F 6 3 2 1 0' switch to the '2' position.

You can see the above described at

this Sharp.com page which shows the users manual. The manual shows examples.
