1 Answer

No picture Hello, Recently my C-Band Motorola DSR 922 has lost all video. It powers up I can move the dish but when you change channels it appears to try and show the channel then the screen goes all snowy.Any help on a do it yourself repair would be great.I contacted ATS electronics and they stated it is a common problem that can be fixed easily.Problem is I am in Canada and the cost to ship it to the USA is very expensive, I have done some electronic repairs , mods etc and would like to attempt this repair. Thanks

It has been a while since I worked on these kind of electronic equipment and I do not remember or kept any notes about specific troubleshooting. I worked for a company before that was repairing these motorola satellite receivers for starchoice Canada.
Are you using the audio/video inputs or RF input?
Where in Canada do you live?

DSR 922- to begin with it wouldn't shut off, no function will work with the remote, unplugged it and replugged it and now there is nothing but the inspirational channel on G3 217. H20

IF the receiver lost its sat settings you had, you best check the internal battery. the lithium battery should be 3.70 volts...if its dead you need to replace it, without interupting the power source...this will also cause you to lose your unit ID number. then you won't be able to subcribe to programming...the 922 can be repaired if the battery dies.

Have a DSR 922 that I can not get W5 to program in the satellite list. When I highlight it and push enter it all ways returns to the current satellite I was on, insted of letting me move the dish to the W5...

Do not know if I solved the problem yet. Went on Skyvision site and somebody had the same problem. They told him he would have to do a Master reset, and reprogram all satellites and east/west limits. Just haven't had time to do this yet. Will let you know if it works.

Power outages cause receiver to lose unit ID numbers.

When the backup battery goes dead you loose the ID number.

If you have lost your receiver ID number you will need a new main board.
Check the receiver number in the status screen. If it matches the UA number on the back sticker you are ok, if not the only solution is replacing the main board. ATSelectronics.com still had some boards when I last checked. But when they run out were all screwed.
Motorola didn't make any provisions for renewing the ID number.
That really sucks motorola ;-(

Blue Screen

Hello,
I just wanted to suggest some things for you to try, if you have not done them already. Try hooking up a known good signal, such as the main input cable from your cable or dish, hook it straight to your tv, and see if you can change channels, and get a picture on low band...2 thru 6, and then if not, how about any picture above channel 6, if you get picture on 2 thru 13 now, it could be whatever you have hooked in between the input cable and the tv...be sure you have the tv on the right channel for your receiver, usually 3 or 4, or if you are using another type of video input cable, make sure you have tv on the right input for that cable and that cable is good...check the in and out of your component unit, for correct cable hookup as well as your cables, in reference to using RCA video and audio left and right in and out...a lot of sets and vcr's will go to a blue screen if they lose signal to them....I hope this helps you out some.If you cannot get a picture from hooking your signal straight to your tv, it could be the tuner got a spike from a thunderstorm, or has lost the B Plus source for the tuner circuit. Be sure that it is not selected for an input signal, other than the cable or antenna mode, the onscreen text should verify this, if you can change channels with or without getting video...a picture....Good luck with it. T.

Tiling and Breakup

I am having the same issue. The receiver, however, is a 920 model. The satellite repairman states that the receiver is the problem and that I need to purchase a new 922 model.
