Please go to the Garmin website at and download their webupdater on to your PC. Connect your Nuvi to the PC with a USB cable and run the webupdater. It will check to see if you need ay firmware upgrades and also look for a selection called GPS chipset. You want to upgrade your Nuvi with the GPS chipset. Your GPS receiver has corrupted data and needs to be reflashed.

New Nuvi 200 will turn on briefly then turn off.

You need to charge your gps from any external charger and check whether screen is working properly .

Also do firmware update for your gps .

By updating firmware your problem can be fixed .

Please tell me what the version of bluetooth firmware is showing up in your unit. You can access this by pressing the wrench symbol, then the gear symbol, then "about". The latest bluetooth version is v3.4. If it shows up as 0.0, then you need to reflash the bluetooth firmware.

One note: Everytime you update the bluetooth firmware, it erases your pairing information with your phone, so you will have to re-pair your phone with your Nuvi.

Best wishes,

Garmin NUVI

Hi Steve,

I am going to ask you a couple questions to help you.

1. Is the unit fully charged?
2. Is the antenna up when you are looking for satellites?
3. Has the unit's firmware been recently updated?
4. Please tell me the current firmware in the unit. You can tell this by selecting the wrench symbol and then touch the gear symbol and then select "About". Please tell me the first number which is the firmware 5.0, 5.2, 5.4 etc. Also tell me the GPS S/W number. It should have a number and not read 0.0. If it reads 0.0 this is a problem.

Please let me know and we'll go from there. I repair Nuvi's and I'll try to help you.
