Question about Olympus P 400 Thermal Printer

1 Answer

LCD Display on HP C5180 printer stopped working.

The display lights up but does not display anything. The printer still works.
The printer is my Mother in Law's and the problem started when her cat puked on the display. She cleaned all the surfaces but the display remained blank.

Any actions we can take to restore the display?

Thanks for the information. Are directions available to guide one for disassambly of the display? I looked it over and am afraid that I'll destroy the display trying to open it up for further cleaning. My Mother-in-law turned 3 shades of red when I showed her the postings :)

Sorry but the display is probably still covered in puke inside. you will need to replace the whole display. or take it apart and clean it check that everything is ok and put it back in.

C5180 display turned white

Have you tried taking the cover off again and seeing if it prints again and if the display is back to normal. That would indicate to me that the problem could be either a wire being loose at the side cover or possibly a sensor, either way you probably need to take it back to the shop to get it repaired.

The printer must complete the startup routine before you can use it for any function. Part of that routine is to make sure that there is ink in each of the slots. Without it, none of the functions will work.

I hate to tell you this, but it sounds as though the device itself is bad. HP offers a standard (1) year warranty. If you're printer is not that old you can call them and get the printer replaced. Depending on the functionality you lose with the broken LCD display I would either continue to use the other working services or I would just purchase a new model.

Hope this helps.
