Question about Dell Inspiron E1505 Notebook

Startup repair won't repair

I have a Dell Inspiron e1505 and when I boot the laptop, the startup repair says it can't repair the startup. I am willing to reformat the laptop but have some files I need to save. I can get to safe mode with the command prompt but don't know enough commands to download the data to a flash drive. Please help.

Ok. I guess I can't get to safe mode because the startup repair keeps running. Can I get past the startup repair to save data files?

It sounds like your leaving your Installation Disk in the drive. Take that out and run safe mode, then just plug in your flash drive as normal and it should detect it and you can copy your files to it. If not, use s CD and burn the files you need on them then you can proceed with Wiping the drive. If this fails, Install XP but there is a option to not have the drive formatted thus this keeps all files in tact. Reinstall XP like this, take the files you need and then reformat and reinstall XP and you should be fine. After doing all this, run a virus scan and have it run regularly because it may have been a virus that caused the problem to begin with.

Hope This Helps

That code is a Windows boot error. I'm not sure what you can do with the Dell OS media stick but the traditional solution with a regular hard disk is to take a Windows 7 OS disk, boot with it, and run startup repair. Here's a link to Startup Repair: Startup Repair Microsoft Windows

Dell Inspiron e1505 running XP professional SP3 freezes after login.

Your profile might be corrupted. You can try boot into safemode and see if you can log in from there. In order to boot into safemode, you have to press F8 button during startup. Then select boot with safemode, wait for a little splash screen of text to go away. you should be able to login from there.

If you can't login as yourself, try login as administrator account. Then create a new account.

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop PC that crashed and will not boot up. What can I do?

You can try to re-build the operating system with the original disks.
You can get a new hard drive and reinstall the OS.
You can boot to Bart PE or other type of system disk to investigate the cause of the crash and try to repair it.

DELL LAPTOP INSPIRON 6400 MY LAPTOP BATTERY IS SHOWING STATUS ( UNKNOWN ) ON WINDOWS & ON BIOS IT SAYSS BATTERY NOT INSTALLED

Here are my recommendations for this issue:

1. Reseat the battery.
2. Remove All External Components
3. Check the battery connectors on the battery and the system. Examine the connector on the battery and the system. Make sure that there is no physical damage and that it is clear of debris.
4. Remove All External Components
5. Try a known-good battery in the system, if available.

Won't load windows

Try pressing F8 on startup to start the computer in safe mode.

If it does not restart in safe mode, then you need to reinstall Windows using the recovery CD or a Windows setup disk.

If you do not format the hard drive , and do a windows upgrade setup on top of same system folder, you will preserve your data.
