Shu43c Drain pump is very loud! This's supposed to be a quiet one

We've had this for a little over a year and it has developed a very loud noise that seems to be when it is draining the water. I have checked all the filters inside the dish bay and they are clean. Any ideas?

I have the noisy drain pump on my Bosch dishwasher. I installed a new garbage disposall and did not remove the plastic plug for the water drain of the dishwasher. It ran for a while until I corrected my mistake and removed the plug. Now the pump is so loud whereas before it was so quiet one could not tell the dishwasher was running. What could have happened to the pump?

Drain pumps are relativley cheaply manufactured with basic technology, we can not even determine which way they spin, if something got into the pump it could be creating the noise, otherwise it could be the pump itself which will detereate over time, also if these run dry they seam to make more noise.

Sudden loud vibration from the door of my Whirlpool dishwasher. Replacing the part didn't help.

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Drain Pump If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain pump might be defective or might have some debris in it. This is a common problem.
Circulation Pump If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the circulation pump sound, it's likely that the circulation pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the circulation pump will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Drain Impeller If the dishwasher is loud during operation, the drain impeller might be broken, or there might be debris in the pump. Generally, to gain access to the pump the top of the pump housing will have to be removed.

Pump and Motor Assembly If the dishwasher is loud the motor bearings, drain impeller or wash impeller might have worn out. All three of these components are part of the pump and motor assembly. It may be possible to replace one of the impellers, but the motor bearings cannot be repaired. In that case the pump and motor assembly will need to be replaced.

Wash Impeller The wash impeller is a small, plastic blade. The motor spins the impeller forcing water through the spray arms to clean the dishes. If one or more blades has broken off of the impeller the dishwasher is loud. The impeller can also scrape against the pump housing if it is damaged, warped or bent.

Circulation and Drain Pump Motor If the dishwasher is loud during operation, and the noise is a continuous drone similar in speed to the motor sound, it's likely that the circulation and drain pump motor bearings have failed. Once this happens the motor will have to be replaced, the bearings are not repairable.

Water Inlet Valve The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled water valve. When it is new, the water inlet valve is very quiet. Over time, the diaphragm inside the valve deteriorates and deforms. This deformation interacts with the water rushing in and can cause a loud vibration, buzzing, squealing or other noises. If the dishwasher is loud during the filling cycle, replacing the water inlet valve may solve the problem.

Water not emptying

When the pump is supposed to operate, can you hear the sound of a small motor, or is the machine totally quiet ?
If you can hear the pump motor (but no water flow), then something is blocking the drain pipe (if an upright machine), or the pump is jammed (usually wear and age related).
If the machine is totally quiet, then either the timer (rotary switch control) is not switching power to the pump, or the pump motor has failed.
Sometimes, the wiring to the pump motor develops a discontinuity due to fatigue of the wiring (vibration related).
You will have to refer the machine to someone with experience (and test equipment) to trace this type of fault.

I have a GE Model GLD 4260L dishwasher. It is noisy in wash cycl

Hey Roy, the main pump/motor mechanism that supplies water through the washarms is a seperate pump from the drain pump.
Try this since it sounds like your handy, I bet this diagram will help you.
Go to www.geappliances.com scroll down while looking over on the left side of the site and click on the quick link of parts and accessories, then scroll down and click on the picture of the dishwasher, scroll down to the box where you enter your dishwasher model number, click on either of the models that pop up( both are the same) then click on the little arrow next to the red go button,to drop down your choices, click on motor-pump mechanism, then click GO,then click on the red letters that say "click here to view diagram of motor-pump mechanism" and then an exploded view of your dishwashers pump and other units will appear, study the diagram and this should help.
Wow that was a long road, but hey I hope this helps you solve your problem. Good luck !

Bosch SHX4AP05UC Very LOUD!

This doesn't add up to what other owners say. Have yo contacted Bosch? Also, your output line may be entering your drain system in the wrong place causing the noise for that issue. Good luck. I am looking at the same machine for purchase......

Maytag washer makes loud grinding noise during the spin cycle

if it's making a noise then either your drain pump bearing is going out or your thrust bearing is going out (assuming the noise happens in both spin and wash). Tip the washer backwards so that you can get underneath of it. Take the belt off and spin the pump pulley on the right side. This should spin effortlessly.

The middle pulley is the trustbearing pulley. Spin this--- one direction it should have a little bit of resistance--- the other should have more resistance

My Bosch SHU43C will sometimes make a loud noise

It may be more cost affective to just replace this unit. the circulation motors that are used in these dishwashers are not reliable. the wash impellers seems to have issues dealing with staying attached to the drive stud and shaft. this will cause the impeller ti shift inside the housing, causing noise and jams.

A new circulating impeller kit will cost about 100 dollars and, labor for this type of repair is 80 dollars an hour.

Loud humming noise when dishwasher is filling up with water

your model is pretty new. just so you know your warrenty is 1 year parts and labor. 2 years on parts. it should not cost that much money.

there are two components that start before the circulation pump.(wash noise you hear)

first sounds you hear will be the drain pump. usually rattling noises if something is in it but it can make a hum noise if something is jamming the drain propeller up. which is accessible with a T20 torx driver. take the filters out and the mesh filter. and unscrew the screw in the base towards the left. pull out whatever is lodged.

the other humming sound can come from the next component that activates is the watervalve. make sure you dont have a kinked water intake line. otherwise its a bad valve. i have had to change a few of those water valves out already but not for a hum noise on your model. you have a new style water valve. when brands make new parts we get problems fast sometimes..

Bosch SHU43C

My SHU43C is just over 3 years old. I had a similar problem recently. First, there were a few floods. Then, the Bosch only drained non-stop. Even when I used the Cancel Drain buttons the drain pump would run without stopping. When I tried to run one of the cleaning cycles, no water entered the machine. Corrective: I removed the base plate, and saw that the red plastic floatation device was in the up position. Using a flashlight and a wooden spoon, I lightly toggled the red float stem down. I pushed regular clean cycle and kept toggling with the red float stem until the rinse water started to enter the machine (turning the red stem seems to also actuate a step in the program). Now the dishwasher runs normally. Voila!

Quiet Dishwasher no longer quiet

Hello. The drain motor is what runs at the beginning and end of the cycle. You can take off the drain impeller cover, which is on the left side of the sump area under the filter screen. You will need a torx head screw driver which can be bought at any hardware store. The tip kind of looks like an astorics/star. This may be hard if you don't know what you are looking for. Any way take off the cover and see if something is hitting the impeller. If not then you will need to replace the drain motor, which can be removed, not very easily though, from the bottom front.
Warning: It can be hard to get the motor to install properly with out it leaking. You will need to make sure that the "O" ring is properly installed onto the the pump and you may need to put some liquid soap on it (the "O" ring) to keep it from binding.
