Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+
We bought a brand new 1/2 HP motor for our Garage door in the summer. It worked fine for about a week and then it started to be selective when trying to close the door. Sometimes it goes down on the 1st push of a button the other it can take up to 1/2 hour even when the mounted pad is turned off...still does not work. I am so frustrated as it is just 1/2 year old.
The sensor are clear of any obstacles and the colors are red and green. It just does not work and I am ready to take my losses and go and buy a brand new motor which is not even close to the name GENIE.
Does anyone here has any hints?
You have loose wire(s). After speaking with Genie Customer Service, they had me disconect a few of the wires and try operating the unit, to no avail. I noticed when reconnecting the wires that several other wires on the same row of connections were loose. I tightened all wire connections and VOILA, it works.
1.Open plastic cover in front of the Unit.
2. Look on upper right corner for a row of screws. Model 2020L has a verticle row of (6) connection screws numbered from top to bottom, 1-6. These screws connet to a green circuit board. Looks kind of like a video card from a computer.
3. Tighten all these screws top to bottom assuring good connection of all wires.
My contention is this. As the motor runs, it causes a vibration that tends to loosen those screws causing a faulty connection to the circuit board. Hope this works for you.

I have a model 2020L Genie opener that has started acting
First of all, the problem appears to be temperature
sensitive. The warmer (hot) it is, the
more likely it will occur. If it is cool
or cold it seems to be fine.
I finally messed around with it today.
The opener will just shut-off. Typically, it opens fine, but then it won't
close. Sometimes you have to wait a
couple minutes... sometimes longer. We
would usually walk away for 30 minutes.
This is important to seeing what kind of problem you have. When mine shuts off.... the light shuts off,
the button light shuts off, and the safety sensor LEDs shut off. The electric outlet plug has power and the
circuit board has power.
It is not the safety sensors or a loose connection or broken
It is not related to the safety circuit sensors or wires.
I am still looking for a solution, but thought I'd drop a
