STATIC CHARGE (by 5 users)

posted by FUZZIEST on Dec 19, 2006

just boughthis tv 10/15...has been working fine until last week....
My daughter caused the breaker to flip and my powerbar was located on this portion of the panel.
Ever since this happened there has been a small static charge that slowly builds and creates "static lines" across the display...The only way to make them disappear(for about an hour or so) is to turn off all my hardware and reset the power bar.
After I do this everything is a-ok on the display and then it re-appears
Can anyone help?!?!?!
I have the same problem.

I have had my Insignia for about a year and I am seeing "static" in the lower left jand corner of the screen. It doesn't always show, but when it does, it is distracting. It can be as small as a square inch or as large as a quarter of the visable area. Any ideas on what is causing it and how to fix it?

First thing I'd check is the powerbar. Did you plug the TV into the outlet direct? What caused the breaker to trip? If it was an overload by using too much current, there is a possibility that there is a loose connection in your house wiring causing arcing and the interiference lines you're seeing on the display. You may even want to try the set in a different outlet if the powerbar checks ok, and if the set then works fine, get an electrican ASAP!

Plug your TV in a reliable surge suppressor or UPS , common problems arise from power losses and low voltage as well as spikes. These will really mess with you electronics.

Get a very good surge protector. Make sure it has close to or over 3000 joules and you should be fine.

With todays electronics and small amps and voltage the slght's jumps and surges can easiely knock out our equipment . It happens all around me all the time. Lightning, power surges, transformers, power plants and more are constantly effecting our equipment. We need the best surge protectors today to help us stay safe. It sounds like you have been a victum of a surge.
