The ULN-15WCSS-00 stopped running (cooling)

I removed the lower grille to clean the condenser coil; put it back together and it hasn't run since. Any ideas? Thanks. Jackie

SOURCE: Ice maker will not harvest

As crazy as this sounds, turn the temp control a little warmer (counter clockwise). On this model, this control needs to switch to harvest the ice. A warmer setting should fix this issue.

the motor could be defective or it could be low o refrigerant causing the pressure switch to not kick on the fan. Could even be wires have come loose from the fan. If the fan does not work it won't cool. however it mould most likely cosy you more to fix if you take it to a shop to have it repaired if you have the tools to test it with I can help you so let me know if you have a test meter volt ohm meter and I can tell you how to test the system.

SOURCE: How do I access and

Most likely the Thermostat is bad not bringing the unit back on; the Thermostat is the temperature control knob located in the toe grille of the unit.

Removing toe grille you will see a little box that houses the t-stat. If you wanted to test to be sure just remove the 2 wires that are connected to the thermostat and conncet them together to make sure compressor and fans start up.

Hope helps.

Tip

Hot door seal, rail, divider strip between refrigerator and freezer.

If the mullion (rail between the fresh food section and the freezer section) on your refrigerator is hotter than normal this tip will help identify and remedy the issue hopefully before it gets to the point of loosing the cooling.

Theory:
Refrigerated surfaces will attract moisture, especially in the warmer more humid areas and times of year. Since the refrigerator and freezer are cold moisture can accumulate near the door from normal use, this moisture can get into the door seals and cause them to not seal properly, mold and otherwise cause a nuisance.

Why Hot:
To keep the moisture from accumulating on this surface the refrigerator manufactures have run part of the hot condenser tubing inside the cabinet close to that rail, under normal running circumstances this rail will be slightly above room temperature and the amount of heat not noticeable. The condenser is the set of coils that are on the back or bottom of the refrigerator and disperse the heat from the unit. If the condenser is very dirty or the fan that keeps the condenser cool is not running then the condenser coils and thus the mullion (rail) gets very hot and overheats. This heat will eventually cause the compressor to work harder and possibly overheat and turn off occasionally to cool itself. This will lead to reduced cooling in the freezer and refrigerator.

Fix: If the coils are under the refrigerator, pull the front grille off of the bottom, check if you feel air coming out, if not then the fan is not running, look for dust and dirt build up on the coils, clean with a brush and vacuum, do not be afraid to get aggressive with the brush. If the fan is not running you will need to go to the back of the refrigerator and unplug the power cord. Remove the back panel off the bottom and you should see the fan. It may have some dust or other debris blocking the fan blade from turning. If so clean that out very good, clean the coils from the back if accessible also. Be sure to put the back panel on as it is there to direct the air flow across the compressor and coils, without that panel the condenser will overheat.

If the fan does not run after cleaning it you will need to replace the fan motor, it is a common part that should be available at most retail appliance part dealers. Just be sure to get your model and serial number before calling.

My daughter's fridgidare top mount freezer blowing out cool air but not keeping things froze , can freon be put in it , fridge is only about 5 yrs. old

The condenser coils dissipate heat. If dust and debris accumulate around the coils, your refrigerator may not be able to cool properly, it may run continuously or it may stop completely as a result of an overheated compressor.

Floor Level Coils

You should clean floor level coils at least twice a year. Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Vacuum or brush the coils.
Remove the grill from the front of the refrigerator and use a vacuum with a wand attachment to remove any dust and debris. The grill should snap off and on. Pull firmly toward you and possibly upward to remove the grill. If it does not come off with a modest effort, check for screws or retaining clips that may hold it in place.

Rear-Mounted Coils You should clean rear-mounted coils once a year. Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Refrigerators are heavy, never tip one forward or backward. Never attempt to move a refrigerator without an assistant.

Vacuum or brush the coils. If coils have a filmy build-up, use warm soapy water to clean them. Take care not to spill or drip water onto the components of the refrigerator.

The freezer is running and is set to the coldest setting but still is not cold enough to freeze our food. Ice has melted and food in the freezer is beginning to thaw.

1. Make sure condenser is clean.

2. If you have a "rear mounted" condenser (black coil on back) make sure it has enough room around it for air to circulate. Not against the wall and if under cabinet should have about six inches clearance.

Hot spots on outside of Amana fridge. sxd22s2w model

if it feels like it's running hot check the coil to see if it needs to be cleaned, remove the bottom kick plate and look at the coil, the coil should be cleaned once every 6 to 12 months, also pull the fridge out, remove the back bottom panel, make sure the condenser fan is blowing and vac out any lint near the fan and compressor, also check the cover that you removed and clean that too.you might want to unplug the fridge while you clean back there so you don't hit the fan blade, wait 5 minutes before you plug it back in so the compressor can reset itself.there are gas lines that run through the frame of the machine,if the coil is jammed with dust and lint the machine runs hotter, this is how it cools off through the condenser coil and the fan blows the air around to help cool it down,if it runs hot then the freon will run hot and you could feel it on the frame and in the strip where the doors close together.you can buy a brush that you can push into the holes of the coil to pull the dust out or if you have a shop vac you can vac out as much as you can and then put it on blow and blow the dust out of the coil, just hit it with short bursts or the dust will blow everywhere.

Hi,

I do not think my first attempt to help you went through, if this is a duplicate response I am sorry. It sounds like your condenser is overheating, this could be due to the coils being very dirty or the fan that keeps them cool is not running. The motor you hear on top is most likely the compressor that does the cooling. Remove the grille on top and look at the coils (similar to a radiator in a car but smaller) there will be a fan behind them that will (should) be turning. If the coils are dirty use a vacuum and brush if you have one to clean very thoroughly. I have put together some instructions on how to do this but it is for bottom compressor models, but it might help, I have attached the link to the bottom of this reply.

If the motor is not running you can see if something is caught in the blades stopping it, if it is clear and not running you will need a new condenser fan motor.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have questions.

NOTE_ Make sure that the evaporator and condenser fans are running. If they are not running, this will lead to a failed control board.

My refrigerator and freezer worked fine until after a power outage. Now the unit will not cool at all, and the fan runs constantly. What should I look for?

The condenser coils dissipate heat. If dust and debris accumulate around the coils, your refrigerator may not be able to cool properly, it may run continuously(non stop fan action) or it may stop completely as a result of an overheated compressor. You should clean rear-mounted coils once a year. Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning. Refrigerators are heavy, never tip one forward or backward. Never attempt to move a refrigerator without an assistant. Vacuum or brush the coils. If coils have a filmy build-up, use warm soapy water to clean them. Pull firmly toward you and possibly upward to remove the grill. If it does not come off with a modest effort, check for screws or retaining clips that may hold it in place.

Now, Once the coils are cleaned, simply re- introduce power to the unit, and observe for a couple of hours. If the fan continues to run, and there is no cooling affect, this will indicate that the main control aboard(PCB), is damaged. It must be replaced in this case.
