Avic-n1 i had my avic-n1 for awhile and recently i truned my truck on and the lcd scereen would not come on./ everything else works, it still plays music, except for the screen itself. the buttoms even work still as i can hear the beeps when i press the screen, but no picture will show up. what could be the problem. i heard it could be some sort of ribbon inside the unit, but i dont know??? please help

see what is on the screen someone said it could be a fuse in the unit?
and if so can it be fixed with out shipping to pioneer it self?

Yeah i Just bought one used and the ame thing happned. Turned out pioneer put a recall about the flex cable and they offer a free flex cable upgrade if you send it in to them.

You may have the circuit board broken that holds those buttons. If I remember correctly those are all in the same area. If so, you have some kind of a problem with the board. Nothing you can do to fix it except to take it to a service center and see if they can repair the board or replace it.
The original Avic N1 only needed to have the parking brake wire grounded for video in motion. Then, the latter series came out and on the underside of the in-dash unit, they have a foil sticker that needed to be removed and a jumper carefully soldered on the circuit board. Avic N2's had a switch installed under this sticker to avoid people from making soldering mistakes. I think the N2 brain may be looking for an N2 unit and giving you trouble. more info on this subject is available @ www.avic411.com.
If your error message is reading "insert appropriate disk" or "inappropriate disk inserted" than I have the solution. Can you just let me know exactly what the message is?
It is probably the ribbon cable that you can see when the screen closes. This is a known problem and the part is sometimes hard to find. But is available.
