Question about ASUS A6U Notebook

1 Answer

Wirelss networking is intermittent or unavailable

My Network:
2 wired desktops (Dell and HP)
1 wireless laptop (Asus PC)
1 wireless desktop (Apple iMac)
1 wireless nintendo wii

My router:
D-link DGL-4500

My wireless internet access is intermittent and unreliable. It will work sometimes for some computers, but it will never work for all computers at once. I am constantly having to change settings around to make my network work.

I live in an apartment complex and I know I'm dealing with interference issues from my neighbors, but I seem to be picking up a stronger signal from them than my own router.

I put my router to wireless channel 11 using the 802.11 2.4 Ghz band. Using these settings, my Asus receives wireless internet, but my iMac does not. Likewise, my router is a dual band and can broadcast on the 5Ghz channel, but my Asus cannot pick up this signal while my iMac can. I suppose that my Asus doesn't have the network adapter necessary for the 5Ghz band. I'm not sure.

Can anyone help me figure out a way to network my apartment so that all computers can use the internet without interruption simultaneously?

On the asus in the tool bar right click the wireless icon then choose view wireless a netwrok should appear then choose connect
if no networks appear on same page click to refresh network list once you have a network then click to connect.
I think the problem is diue to interference as you said you live in an apartment.
You can get a better router system or have someone come in and configure the one you have and make it a secure connection with password

I just got my Asus Eee PC 1000H and the first thing I tried to do was to connect to the wireless network in my house but I don't have a wireless network icon. The wireless and bluetooth are both turned on....

Hi,
I am assuming this has windows xp on it. Go to start settings/control panel then double click wireless network setup. Go through the wizard and go from there. If you need further assistance please let me know.
Thank you,

ASUS EEE PC w/ Windows XP will not Connect Wirelessly

You need to know if your home network requires a password or paraphrase to allow you to connect. Also, you might have to check your settings on your router, they have to match the settings of your laptop wireless adaptor. You can try these solutions and if no luck post with more information

Network Vista Wireless Laptop to XP Desktop & Print Documents

On the desktop machine - go to the printers folder, right click the icon for the Laserjet and choose sharing (enable print sharing). You should be able to name the printer and make it accessible to anyone within the workgroup. If needed you can run the network setup wizard to change the workgroup names on both machines.

On the laptop go to add new printer and choose network printer, you should be able to browse to the desktop machine by name and choose the Laserjet as a printer (whether you want it to be the default is up to you). The laptop will download and install the drivers from the desktop pc to the laptop and set the correct network path automatically.

It goes without saying that the desktop machine must be on in order to print from the laptop in this scenario.

Slow Internet Connect

i have the same router. I recommend that you download a new driver of your lan card for your desktop pc, also if you have P2P and bittorrent applications, try to disable them first and see the difference, those programs slow down the your internet, because they hog your bandwidth and connects to multiple users.
