How to burn a dvd from an acer laptop

The laptop should have come with CD/DVD burning software preloaded. Acer's specs page for your model says it comes with NTI Media Maker. The program will have help information available to guide you through, and you can find more help online. If you just want to write data files onto a DVD, the process typically is not much more than dragging files to a layout window and telling the program to burn the disc. This gives you a way to back up data, or to store movies in formats you can view on a computer (AVI, MPG, etc.).

On the other hand, if you're asking how to make a video DVD that will play in a regular DVD player like a commercial movie, maybe with features like menus or scene selection and such, the process for making that kind of DVD is more involved. You need some DVD authoring software. NTI may offer that capability, but I'll admit I have never looked.

In most cases, the software that comes preloaded on computers is a limited version of some commercial product. The computer manufacturers get paid to include the program, and the software company hopes you'll buy the full version when you discover the limitations. If you don't want to pay for software, there are free, more full-featured programs available for downloading.

For general CD and DVD burning, I use CDBurnerXP. To make video DVDs, I use a program called DVDStyler. Both are open-source, meaning they are 100% free to download and use, and they both offer a lot of features.

Need help with Compaq Presario v2000 drivers

Your DVD drive is missing the Burning Program not the driver. I found an update for your windvd software for windows 7 but you probably have to have the full program installed to run the update. Hope this helps.

Dvd recording

I had the same problem and spent some time looking up this issue. I have a sony dvd player and it seems to have trouble reading almost any burnt dvd or cd. I have read that sonys seem to prefer the cheap dvds and cds for burning. It seems the cheap'O dvd players play burnt dvds and cds better that the nice ones, go figure.

There is more info out there about making sure to burn dvds and cds in the correct format.
You can try different burning software that has more options than just vista.
If you are creating a dvd from a movie file such as an avi or mpeg, please explain more on what you are doing and trying to accomplish.

G'luck

Help with my cd player/burner

There could be several things which are causing your CD burner not to act in the way it should.

I had a similar type problem after installing Windows XP, .Service Pack 3 onto my Sony VAIO model VGN-SZ330P.
The standard Windows burner kept saying there was no CD in the drive but it would play both CDs and DVDs.

I went looking for an alternative and now use IMGBURN which is a free lightweight CD / DVD / HD DVD / Blu-ray burning application . You can find it at http://www.imgburn.com/.

I also installed CDBurnerXP which is another free application to burn CDs and DVDs, including Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs. It also includes the feature to burn and create ISOs, as well as a multilanguage interface. You can find it at http://cdburnerxp.se/en/home

The above does not tell you why your burner is having problems (and they could be numerous), it will certainly get the burner doing everything you need.

Problem Burning DVD's

This is a common problem with HP Pavilion series laptops - after a while, the DVD burners burns disks okay (it thinks), but then when you insert the DVD later it does not recognise it as having any content. Very irritating. There are two fixes. One is to update the firmware on the DVD drive (you need to download a bunch of stuff for this), but the other, believe it or not, is to change the writing DVDs you use. Try VERBATIM DVD -Rs, which work on my Pavilion when most others will not. I am guessing this has to do with the wavering power output of the laser in the drive as it gets older, it becomes more picky about what DVDs it will write. So try a different brand of DVDs first.

Good luck...

Can't burn DVDs (VistaHomePrem)

Well I am not surprised ya can't get it to work.. It can all be quite confusing.... I suggest that you try some "Other" burning software. I recommend CopytoDVD...AnyDVD ... convertXtoDVD.... vso-copytodvd.en.softonic.com/ OR AnyDVD www.slysoft.com/en/download.html ConvertXtoDVD vso-convertxtodvd.en.softonic.com See one has to have a program that will "Burn" in a Format suitable for ALL players PC & stand alone DVD's the ones I have listed Just work... ensure you read the "Help" files and B4 long ya will be watching DVD's.
