Question about Saeco Magic De Luxe Espresso Machine

1 Answer

No power to boiler - cold coffee

When I power up the machine (Estro/Saeco Magic) power light comes on and it does what it usually does - except now there appears to be no power to the boiler or the cup heater (are these connected on the same power source?). The machine displays all usual error lights (door open/grinds bin removed etc...) and brews a coffee but it is stone cold. I would have thought the boiler required replacing but the fact that the cup warmer is not going either suggests a fuse or loose wire. I have checked for a loose wire and found none. Last thing I did was froth milk last night (no coffee), now this morning it is stone cold. Was serviced just two weeks ago so does not need descaling. Also pumps water fine, though cold...

Heating element on boiler is defective. Depending on which model magic you have there might be a seperate boiler for the steamer. No power to heat plate would suggest heating element on heat plate has gone bad or worse case there's a malfunction on the pc board of some sort as everything is fed to it. If it is the board, unless it is the magic redesign (rectangle board vs triangle board), it cannot be replaced as saeco does not carry that part any longer.

Saeco magic machine, all the lights are blinking. Turning the machine off makes no difference. Can't make coffee. occasionally if we run a cup of coffee it will stop the blinking, but now that does not...

If all the lights are blinking in a row then you have a Main electronic board problem. Most common issue is that boiler has leaked water on board and caused it to fail.

Temperature control on Saeco magic deluxe

No it cannot. I am not sure why you would want the water hotter. It is designed to be at the perect temperature for passing through the brew group for coffee brewing, its kind of a simple science.
If your machine has been producing less hot coffee gradually, that marks an issue. Try descaling the boiler per the manufacturer's inscrutions even if the warning light isnt on. The other option is that the thermal fuse mounted to the boiler is bad and turns off the boiler prematurely, those cost about $15 and are simple to replace. Lastly, the boiler heating element may be 'burnt out' new boiler is $120+

Push ok to start boiler

Try opening the steam valve before pressing ok.
This will let water into the boiler before the heat element comes on.

Coffee not dispursing

Puddle under the machine means the boiler has broken. Whatever you do do not use the machine any more as the boiler could spray the pc board. If that happens your s.o.l. as saeco does not carry the board any longer. You can send it to a service center and have the boiler replaced. Lowest charge i've seen is $180.00 usd plus shipping and service charge. The boiler always breaks due to hard water and calcium buildup threw the machine and not descaling it. Also happens when machine is left on 24/7. If you have the boiler replaced, use only bottle water and turn off the machine when not in use. Also the machine MUST be descaled bi monthly.

Saeco Magic Deluxe water leak

Hi Boilers leaking are usually a sign of not descaling enough. It is not recommended to take apart your machine unless you have knowledge in electronic repair. There are a lot of wires and hoses.
Once the boiler starts leaking it needs to be replaced. email me for directions since it won't fit on this page.
