I checked HP's website ( and for the specific model number of your laptop I did not find any XP driver for your audio device. Anyway, if you already downloaded the driver for your audio device you have to direct the driver installation wizard to the location of the driver file.

Here's how to do it (please be certain that you know where you saved the driver for the audio device(:

1.) Under Device Manager - right click the audio device (it will usually be under "Other Devices") and select Update driver.

2.) The Hardware Update wizard will pop up, select the option - No, not this time. Click Next.

3.) On the next window, select Install from a List or specific location. Click Next.

4.) Under Search for the best driver in these locations - check only the "Include this location in the search. Click the BROWSE button and select the location where you saved the driver for your audio device. Click OK and click Next.

Hopefully, it will find the correct driver.

    Good luck.

What do you mean by "..but that audio driver cannot work "? Do you mean it's not compatible with the audio device that you have? Also, how did you install these drivers?

Usually, you need to install every driver manually - like go to Device Manager , update driver for every device by manually directing the "Hardware Installation wizard" to the correct file.

Are you referring to devices not properly installed under Device Manager? If that is the case, you'll have to manually install the driver for every device. The installer for Windows XP does not have all the necessary driver.

Please indicate the brand and model number of your computer so that I can give you the link where to download the drivers as well as give you the steps in installing them.

    Have a nice day!

It's good to hear that the sound problem is already fixed. You did a good job!

Regarding the co-processor and bus SM control with a yellow question mark (?) , the truth is I have no idea what specific device it pertains to. However , we can isolate what it is by knowing what specific features in your laptop that does not function well or does not function at all.

Did you notice any feature in your laptop that does not work well or doesn't work at all? Look for features such as card reader, USB port , or if there is any button on the laptop that no longer functions. If one of these laptop features doesn't work , then chances are the they are the devices with the yellow ?. You will have to download the drivers for each and install them manually.

The key here is to download the drivers that we need. Unfortunately, we do not know exactly what file to download. What you can do is to go back to the site where you downloaded the driver for your audio device, download all possible drivers that you can (this is time consuming but you may need the drivers in the future anyway).

After downloading the drivers, go back to Device Manger and right click the device with a yellow question mark , select Update driver and follow again the same steps I already posted in updating the driver manually.

I hope that helps.

Good luck and I hope to hear from you again.

No sound on my hp pavilion dv6105us.

I am guessing you have not installed the sound driver for XP.
Here is the link:

There is also the modem sound driver available from that link, but I believe you want the one labeled " Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp33867)"

Problem With XP Drivers

Actually downgrading from vistas to Xp is not supported these days in the new laptops.
1. If you dont have driver setup for XP. You can try to get the driver setup for other Lenovo models models with a Hit and Trial method.
2. Alternatively you try to find out the video card of the laptop..Nowadays laps are mostly with Nvidia. Nvidia gives driver for all Os. so try to download from the Nvidia Site. it also has a automatic video card detetection software. run it to get the exact drive.
3. For audio might be a High definition audio ... so download the Universal audio architecture from the URL or try google for UAA of lenovo.
then try to download a sound driver like conexant high defintion audio driver.
4. while installing the sound driver it might show u that "media for the device not found" in that case open device manager and install the driver from device manager.

5. last option lenovo now offers a Downgrade to XP CD... for more details log onto ..

HOpe to get rated as helpful.

Audio driver installation failed from mother board cd

The most common solution was this: open device manager click "system devices" disable "microsoft UAA bus driver for high definition audio" uninstall "UAA bus driver" make rescan devices (Note: Not all had this step. You may want to skip it.) D.W. install realtek driver the realtek driver includes the UAA driver too.Hope this helps.
