Make sure it is set to a low resolution say 800x600 to start with, also ensure you have the "Other" monitor, ie: TV, activated, "Extend the Desktop to this Monitor" and set to Spanned or Mirrored, under "Display Settings". Also turn TV off, then plug it in from laptop, then turn tv on, then start pc. Also ,make sure you have latest drivers for your card.

I HAVE CONNECTED A HDMI CABLE FROM MY LAPTOP TO MY TV TO USE IT AS MY MONITOR BUT CANT GET THE PICTURE TO PROJECT ON THE TV

First make sure you have the correct input selected on the TV.
Then, enter hardware setup menu on your laptop to the section for monitors. If your laptop hardware has automatically detected that you have a "new" monitor, it will be available to select to use from a list.
Regardless of the laptop model you have, anything you'll have to do to get picture after selecting your input will have to be configured from the laptop.

Trying to hhook up my laptop to my tv and am not getting it to come up

Hi,

There could be several ways that the laptop be hooked up to a TV. It could be through RCA composite video, S-Video, VGA (15pins) and/or DVI. You simply need to check which is available at your laptop and match that port/connector to that of what the TV has. Of course an appropriate cable is also required.

In most instances, it would require that the laptop's Screen Resolution and Screen Refresh Rate be lowered down to match the maximum capacity of the TV.

Additionally, it would be needed to press on the Fn + F? keys of the laptop to cycle through the different settings such as: laptop's display only, laptop & TV displays and TV display only. The F? key would be one in your laptop designated to engaged/enable external monitor (TV). Normally, it would have a monitor icon.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

I am trying to connect my laptop to the Polaroid LCD TV, as i would like to use the TV monitor as a computer monitor (my laptop monitor is broken). So I connect the correct wire to correct places, however...

The simple patch that I found (same problem) was to start by using any old monitor that I could borrow to set up my Dell Laptop.
After getting the Laptop booted on a regular monitor I right clicked on the desktop and went to properties then to the settings tab.
Here I found the dual monitor settings (#2 will usually be dis-abled by default.)
Click on #2 monitor and set the resolution to the lowest number (800 x 600 works well)
Then I clicked on "make this monitor my primary monitor"
As soon as I clicked apply the PC Windows screen appeared on the Polaroid TV screen

Earlier I had set the secondary monitor as "extend this screen to this monitor"
This also worked but I had to "drag the current screen to the right all the way off the
"borrowed monitor" until it appeared on the TV screen. The mouse pointer will be there also.
At first it took a little getting used to but in a few minutes I was up and running.
Hope this helps your situation

Hooking up computer to philips 60pp935217 AV5 HDTV connector?

Hi Roger,

Initially, pls try lowering the screen resolution of your PC. This can be done at the Display Properties/Settings tab and then move the slider of the Screen resolution towards the left, Apply OK. In some instances, you need to also lower down the Screen refresh rates in the Monitor tab of the Advanced Properties.

If your concern has not been corrected after completion of the above procedures, then other methods can be considered.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

How do i connect my laptop

Hi,

Assuming that the laptop is hooked up to the projection TV using the correct cables or connectors and still no video display on the TV, perhaps you need to lower down the laptops screen resolution first using your laptop's screen display before pressing the Fn + F? key.

To lower the screen resolution, right click on any clear area of your desktop, select Properties. click on the Settings tab, move cursor of Screen resolution to farthest left, Apply, Color Quality to lowest, Apply. Additionally, click on the Advanced button, Monitor tab, select lowest Screen refresh rate.

Hope that this be of some help. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
