You have 2 options when your Zune is acting up; When dealing with MS tech support, you may be advised to reset your player
as part of a troubleshooting effort...This is called a soft-reset.
With your Zune turned on, press and hold the back (left) button and the
"Up" button on the control pad at the same time. Your player will reset
When a soft-reset doesn't work...
Under rare circumstances you may need to reformat your player.
(Typically you wouldn't do this only when directed to by Zune technical
First, press and hold the back (left) button and at the same time press
and hold the "up" button on the control pad.
The player will start to reset; as soon as it does, hold down the back
button, center button, and right button at the same time.
Your player will then inform you that it is deleting all media on
device, and your Zune should revert to the "way it was" when you first
pulled it out of the box - except that you will lose the pre-loaded
You will lose all the songs and video you've loaded it with...but the software apps it came from the store with will still be there.
May have to reset the zune to factory default settings...
Try this.... Reset Zune: Press and hold the back button while pressing up on the control pad. Connect Zune to a power source: If the Zune device is in sleep mode, this action will wake the Zune device and turn it on. If the battery does not have a charge, you may have to wait several minutes for the Zune device to turn on.
Also, make sure that the hold button on top of your zune is turned to the off position.
I just had this problem. Try an emergency restart. Hold down the <- arrow button (the button on the left) while pressing the up button on the pad. Hold untill it until the zune symbol comes on screen. Hopefully that will fix it, thats what I did...
If it freezes up hold the pause button and turn it off, then hold down
the back button and up on the keypad and it will restart. If for
some reason it keeps freezing constantly I suggest you contact zune.
Download and install the latest zune software from microsoft. Run the new zune software, plug your zune into the computer and it should prompt you to install the latest firmware automatically. This is all that is necessary with the majority of firmware problems.
Okay... what you do is Hold your zune in you right hand.. open the toilet bowl with your left.. put the zune in the toilet... and then flush it... or if you have not gotten a zune... just throw the $200+ in the toilet instead.. Because i have the same exact problem as these guys and none of their solutions have worked..
To restart the Zune device, follow these steps:
1. Set the Hold switch to the unlocked position.
Note To make sure that the Hold switch is in the unlocked position, you may have to move the switch back and forth until the switch is in the correct position.
2. Press and hold the Back button while you press the top of the Zune pad
