Every 20 minutes, my freezer would make a crackling like noise. What does this mean and how can I fix this?

Refrigerators are not the most complicated appliance in the house, but it still takes a lot of parts working together perfectly to keep your food cold. If one of those parts breaks down, or begins to, you may start to hear new noises from your refrigerator. Fridges make some noise during regular operation, but if it suddenly gets louder or makes a different noise, it is a good sign that something is wrong.

Freezer Fan
Freezers can be located on either side of the refrigerator, or may be at the top or the bottom of the unit. If you hear a noise coming from the area in which the freezer is located, you should open the freezer and see if the noise gets louder. Any squealing sounds coming from this area indicate a broken freezer fan. These units are not designed to be repaired, and eventually one making a loud noise will break and need replacement.

Condenser Fan
All motors typically require a fan in order to maintain a safe operating temperature. Like the fan in the freezer, the fan that runs on the condenser can also break down and create a similar squealing noise. The location of the fan noise is what differentiates the freezer and condenser fan problems. If you hear a fan noise coming from the lower part of the fridge at the rear, it is likely the condenser fan causing the problem.

Action to do
Open the freezer to see if the noise gets louder. If the noise becomes louder with the freezer open, the noise is likely caused by the evaporator fan. If the evaporator fan is the culprit, replace it to get rid of the noise.

Pull the refrigerator away from the wall, and check the condenser fan at the back of the fridge. A metal panel may cover the fan, which can be unscrewed. Listen to see if the fan is the source of the noise. If it is, the fan may need to be cleaned or replaced.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Good day ! : )

REFRIGERATOR FREEZER IS MAKING A NOISE

Noise inside the Freezer
If your freezer is making a squealing or a little chirping sound, your condenser or evaporator fan is the cause. Open up the freezer door, and the noise usually gets louder. The location of the fan depends on your model freezer. Usually, the fan is located on the rear wall of the freezer. The fan can lose lubrication or become rusty over time. You cannot repair the fan. You must purchase a new one.
Have a nice day : )

I have a LG model LFX25960ST refrigerator with an error code of FF. I know this means the freezer fan, but is that one of the fans located in the freezer? When looked up online, neither of those two fans...

yes, its located on the freezer; behind the rear wall. yours has 2 fans; one for the ice cube room (upper left corner) and the fridge/freezer motor (in middle) behind rear freezer wall. this is the motor you will need. the part number should be on it.

Freezer is not working; light (power is on and I think the fridge side is working

You probably have a bad fan motor in the freezer. When you hear the compressor running, open the freezer and listen for the fan. It is located in the back of the freezer. To access the fan, remove everything from the freezer. Locate the screws holding the back panel in place and remove them. With a voltmeter, check for voltage on the terminals of the fan while the compressor is running. If you have voltage and the fan is not running, replace the fan. You can buy replacement fans on-line, at your local appliance parts store, even ebay. Get the model number of your refrigerator, and you can easily locate the part you need.

ET21DMXDW04 TOP-FREEZER REFRIDGERATOR The fan

The evaporator fan should run all the time that the unit is out of defrost. The only time this fan is off is when the unit is in defrost. There are two pssibilities for the "snow", it is either the defrost timer or the defrost termination control. Change the defrost timer first, on 90% this is the problem. If not change the defrost termination control located on the refrigerant line leaving the evaporator coil.

Refrigerator cold compartment not getting cold fan nor running, but freezer is working

the fan that operates the temp in the fridge is out. this fan is located in the space between the fridge and freezer. You can find the location of this fan by looking for vents in the fridge side of the unit near the temp control. The fan can be purchased at any appliance part house. Make sure to take the Model number and serial number with you to inure you recieve the correct part. If you open the area where the fan is located and find it frozen over your defroster is out. This too is easy to replace and same as the fan can be purchased at any appliance parts dealer. As with all appliances make sure to disconnect the power before servicing
