Re: Part finding

Funny really, I have the exact same problem and name. I am also looking for the same part. I have looked all over the internet for this part but i cant seem to find it. I have e-mailed sony's customer services about it so i will post the reply here for you. The only other thing i can suggest is going to your local electrical/ hardware store and see what they have to offer.

Hello Leona Rothney,

Sans a make or model...
your question came through WITHOUT I can only suggest...
YOU FULLY exercise (vigorously) both your remote controls... and your SET controls...

you look into the "menu" section of your "RCA"
and see if your AUDIO has selections like:
... (ALL un-checked)

IF you find nothing there... I'd suggest unplugging the set...
Get your self a cup of tea, coffee... goblet of Cabernet Sauvignon... (what-ever-your-pleasure: take a break) and come back later and plug the set back in...

Try your controls again... especially "MUTE"

It is still likely you can do a general reset feature
(without make/model) you must search for in YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL... (at

You can do this...

Final note...
CRT (cathode Ray Tube) televisions take a huge
amount of power and generate a very NOISY radio
environment (RFI/EMI)...

I WOULD NOT suggest an amateur should go inside
one of these old beauties... There are some VERY
POWERFUL VOTAGES inside... If you must get it fixed
it would be safer for you & your set to HIRE A

Good luck with those controls. (sample)

My tv screen remains blank even when I switch the tv on, there's no sound tht indicates that the tv is switching on, the power supply circuit is ok but it seems as if the other circuits aren't getting...

There are one or more fuses inside a CRT TV which probably failed. Check those first. Make sure the connections between the control board are tight. The only other area that causes problems is sometimes the CRT tube itself. It may be difficult to find a repair technician for the older TVs.

I have a blue -green color at the bottom of my Magnavox 27 inch/ Model 27MS343S screen. What do I do?????

Ir is due to the magnatization of the picture tube. there are tw main possibilities for this fault. The first one is , if you place any high intensity magnetic materials, like stereo speaker boxes, which contain high power magnets inside on speakes or so on. The second one is failure of degaussing posistor inside the circuit board of your Tv.
Every colur TVs has this posistor, ususlly called degaussing posistor, which will work each time you switch on your TV by AC mains, for a very little , say to some microseconds or so, and it will heat up then and its resistance will go up to infinite, not allow any current to pass through. It is connected to a coil fitted around the picture tube inside, and will demagnatize the picture tube each time you switch on the Tv. If you switch off regularly with remote control, this posistor will not work, as there will not full power off occurs.
Do one thing first. Switch off your TV with it front panel power ON/OFF swtich, or unplug it from the mains wall socket for some time, say 30 minutes or so, and the switch it on. In rare occations this will retify the problem. If not, replace the degaussing posistor with an identical type. OK.

TV changes colour to pink and then image dissapears

Sounds to me like a problem with tubes. In your TV there are "tubes." These tubes work better after heating up for at least 25-30 seconds, sometimes longer in older models. It might be a problem with them. Follow this link to read a small amount about tubes, and steering coils.

Depending on how old your TV is, you may or may not be able to find ones for sale. Google the **** out of your TV and you might be able to find the model # for you tube. Then google that model number tube and see if you can find one for sale.
