Question about Evga Geforce 7200GS Tc 256 Mb PCI Express Graphic Card

Video card displays more memory than advertised

I have a ECS Geforce 7200GS 256Mb Pci-express video card, and it is listed as a 256 DDR2 card, but when I installed it in my pc I go to the system info and it tells me it is 512Mb card, is there something wrong with it?

Note: I've tried two different driver versions from NVIDIA, same info.

Arnold,

You likely got a board that was mislabled and packaged improperly, which mean that you just got a bargain. If it exhibits any severe faults then I'd call support and get it repair. But if its running properly I'd just appreciate your good fortune.

Check for dust between the PCIe pins, as this might be causing the computer to stop the boot process in order to "protect" your computer from damage.

The video card form factors are different for a laptop and pc. A PCI Express slot for PC is not the same as a PCMCIA slot for a laptop. You cannot interchange video cards between them.

System hanging while playing games with Palit 7200GS graphic card

There is a chance that system overheats. I would start from cleaning dust from internal coolers of computer. Then I would suggest to put additional cooler on Graphic Card if it has passive cooling. If that not sort your problems out then I would suggest to test you hardware. Test Hard Drive, RAM and put some stress tests on CPU and GPU. Good luck!

That can not be the right driver for your video card. I suggest you roll back to its previous driver. Look for the latest version of the driver for your video card.

When you turn on your pc press F10/F2 (depends upon the motherboard manufacaturer) to go to system setup, function will be according to the motherborad, check for an option named APG/APG Memory/Video Memory. and replace its value using up n down keys or page up/page down or +/- keys. and choose 512 value and maximum value is 256 or less than 256, your motherboard does not support the video memory more than it is selected.

EVGA e-GeForce 7200GS-Disable motherboard Video

The answer is yes. You need to change the on-board video (Known as PCI), & set it to AGP page 36 in you're manual. This setting will be under Integrated Peripherals.
You will also gain back system memory that the on-board video was taking from you're main system memory for it to work.
At start up of the PC press the delete key every two seconds to enter the bios menu. Go to the Advanced menu & find Integrated Peripherals. There is not a disable (per-say), all you do is set it to AGP. That's it.

Enjoy!
