I hit some key/keys that made the screen show up in zoom mode. Even when I restarted the laptop, the screen shows up with the large print. How do I get the screen back in normal viewing mode?

I have a problem with my computer emachines j4501 desktop pc windows vista home premium..after the windows logo the monitor turn blank...but the cpu is still on.... what will i do...

If you can see the windows logo screen both your computer and monitor is working, possible problem could be that the display settings are set to high that your monitor is unable to handle it. Restart computer and keep tapping F8 key. This will take you to the advanced options menu In the list of options here choose enable low resolution mode and hit enter (you can only use your keyboard to choose - use the up / down arrow key) once you enter windows low res mode change it to 800 X 600 and restart the computer Once you are in the right mode now change the display settings accordingly.

How do i restart my dell laptop in safemode?

Restart the computer. After the initial splash screen, but BEFORE you see anything pertaining to Windows, start tapping the F8 key.
Once again. When starting up, you'll see the initial Dell Logo, and right when it flashes away, start hitting the F8 key and it will load advanced startup options which will allow you to select safe mode.
If Windows starts before you get to that screen, you did it too soon, or too late.

My computer was infected by viruses after opening a message and now my laptop wont turn on at all. all that shows up is a black screen with a little line blinking at the top

go into the bios. to do that, you restart and just as it's starting continue hitting "del" the delete key. until it enters the setup mode. depending on what type of computer it is, it may have a command other than the delete key. It may be the F1 key. Once in the bios, go to where it says boot priority. you'll have to look at the directions the screen gives you for changing things. make the Hard Drive the first priority. It may also say HDD for Hard drive. Depending on the computer you may also have a partition for reimaging the computer. That would put the computer back to the state as when you bought it. But all your saved data would be wiped out. For your type of computer google the procedure for system restore.

Unable to have safe mode screen come up from hitting f8

When the F8 key doesn't work, there is another (less desirable) way to force the computer to start up with the option screen to go into safe mode is to interrupt the Windows start-up process. As soon as the Windows screen comes up showing that it is booting up, remove the power from the computer. When you restart, Windows will detect that it did not start up correctly on the last attempt and will automatically go into the option screen to allow you to choose Safe Mode.

Stuck in safe mode with black screen

spywaregard 2008 is malware, a parasite if you will

the last 1/2 of this article will run down a list of files you need to delte to get rid of this nasty little bugger. You can also download various tools to remove it, but it is dependent on your comfort level. if you are comfortable searching for files and changing a couple of registry keys, then by all means, manually is the way to go. If not, you will not have a hard time finding a tool to get rid of this

HP laptop desktop screen seems to be zoomed in . all icons and wallpaper seem to appear quite large .

There is an opion under conrol panel, accessibility options to zoom or enlarge fonts etc. for visually impaired people.. But also I guess there might be a hot key you have hit by accident, that zooms the desk top. What model of HP? Also right mouse click the desktop, click properties & check the 'appearance' settings.. There is an option for large icons & fonts. Maybe the HP hotkeys hook into that Windows option. Rgds,

If you're running XP try this:

1) Restart in Safe Mode. Restart and as soon as you see something on the screen start hitting your F8 key
This will take you to a boot option list. Highlight safe mode and hit enter. Wait for it to finish booting in safe mode.
2) Remember that 9/10 PCs running XP do not have any password on the Administrator account that shows up when you boot in Safe Mode.
3) Login to said Admin account.
4)go to START -> RUN -> "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) in the runbox. Click on ok.
5) You should then be able to reset your password.

If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If it didn't, or your running Vista, DO NOT rate yet just add a comment letting me know what happened and I'll be happy to assist you further. Thanks Maria.
