Hello,
All the lights are lit up on my Dell 1700n...I've called and emailed Dell but getting through to someone who can help me is very difficult...anyone have any ideas about how to troubleshoot or reset?
Thanks.
I had the same problem. In my case all I had to do was unplug it from the computer and plug it back in. I had just installed a new program, I thin that had something to do with it. I used this site from Dell to figure out the problem http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/product_support/en/product_support_central?c=us&l=en&s=gen
Copy that into your web browser and at the bottome of the page where is says search for solutions, just type in all front panel lights lit. It worked for me.
Hope it helps

1) Turn on the printer and hold the resume button. Keep holding the button until it stops blinking and they begin to flash with a sequence.
2) After holding them, release the cancel button to reset the printer. After doing this, the printer gets resetted completely and the flashing lights stops.
If the drum cartridge has not been replaced, it must be replaced before resetting the counter to avoid damaging the printer.
Power off the printer.
Open the front door.
With the front door open, hold down the Continue button while powering on the printer.
Keep holding continue until all lights start flashing then release the button.
Once only the Error light is on, close the front door.
At this point Continue, Ready/Data, Toner Low, and Load Paper should all be lit.
If the previous set of steps did not go as described then do not continue. Please complete the previous set of steps again.
Wait for the printer to make a sound as though it is about to print something. (This may take a minute.)
Press Cancel 4 times SLOWLY (1 second between presses) to cycle through lights until ONLY the Toner Low light is on. (It may take more than 4 presses.)
Press and hold Continue until all the lights cycle through and go back to Toner Low
Cycle power on the printer.
Press and release the Continue button to print out the settings page. Under Cartridge Information it should read Photoconductor: 0K
Hi, first; lets’ start from scratch.Turn off your (Computer), turn off the (Printer), unplug the printer from the power outlet; do not make any changes to the computer.Disconnect (all) the printer cables from the computer; reconnect the cables to the computer, and plug in to power outlet. Turn on the computer (first), turn on the printer. Go to; Control Panel, (Hardware and Sound), click Printer; if the Printer is present; click to open,Properties, click (Drivers): Update Drivers. Restart computer. Thanks paul7of9
double pressing the continue button twice , the printer will give a secondary error code: then check here (link below) : toner is low, with blinking lights = Replacing the Imaging Drum
Clear the Error Log:
a. Turn the printer off.
b. Open the front cover.
c. Hold down both buttons while powering on.
d. Release the buttons when the error light stays on solid.
e. Close the front cover.
Ok, try this--1.power off printer 2. open front door 3. press and hold continue and cancel buttons 4. power back on 5. wait until light sequence stops om error 6. power off and back on.
this resets factory defaults on the printer..
All flashing lights for the Dell 1700 series (1700, 1710, 1720 including those that have n or dn as part of the model) printers is a service related error. When double pressing the continue button twice quickly, the printer will give a secondary error code, narrowing down the printer part being effected. It is possible to even narrow the error code down even futher by double pressing the continue button and taking note of which combination of lights come on, wether they are steady or blinking. Most generally when this series of printers, when you get all flashing lights, something major is going on with the printer. It could be pointing to the fuser, or main board, etc. You can call dell warranty support and they will help narrow down which part is being effected. Most generally, what is being effected is not cost effective to get fixed if you are no longer under warranty.
