You can download the manual from here;
http://inform3.kenwoodusa.com/manuals/KDCMP228.pdf

page 18 says that the code can be set to anything you like, it also suggests that the security code function can be enabled, (suggesting to me that you are able to reset the unit)

I would try taking the unit apart and searching for a battery. it may be as simple as resetting a bios on a computer motherboard.
if you have not done this before the idea is to remove the battey for around 30 seconds whilst the unit is removed from an external power supply, then replacing the battery and then powering up the unit again then see if the security code has been removed.

it's just an idea but unless someone else posts a better soloution it may be worth a go.

Ok, the instructions for entering the code are in the manual, I hope you have it, sometimes the code is also included inside the user manual. If you don't have either, you can contact kenwood to get it reset.
There should be a expert or two on this website who might be able to unlock it for you even if you have lost the code.

I had someone change the radio in my 1998 camry and it did work. My battery went dead, dead and once I replaced battery the radio now doesn't work. Why>

Car radios have security codes to prevent them from being stolen. If they lose power, such as when replacing the battery, they lock out. This makes them worthless to anyone trying to steal them. You need to have the unlock code to reactivate the radio. It is provided with the vehicle at purchase, or by the retailer when selling replacements

Ive lost my unlock code for my ford radio its a 3000 traffic, serial no is M064219 , can anyone help for free please

When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect itagain, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your carradio.
The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. Ifyou do not have this code you need to go to your Ford servicecentre and get them to enter this code for you.

Radio does not work

There should be a card in your glove box most of the time it's in the packet that the dealership gives you when you buy a car. On this card is the radio unlock code. The card is about the size of a credit card. You will have to enter the number on the card into the radio so you will have your tunes back.

Radio dead after battery failure. possible anti theft code required?

Yes, alot of cars have this feature. It is a anti-theft feature so if it is removed you need a code to unlock the radio (or if the battery is unpluged). If it's an after market deck than it should be in the manual if no manual than try googling it. If it is the factory deck than more than likly you will have to go back to the dealer to get the code. Good luck.
