I can't use my whole screen

I was using a program on my TI 83. When I quit the program, I could no longer get to the top of the screen. When i write equations I start at half screen. Is there a simple solution for this problem?

Check to make sure you're not on the "HORIZ" version of the screen. Your program may have adjusted your settings. Go to "MODE" and the last option should have "FULL" highlighted.

You can't simply enter 7x+9=30 into the calculator, there is a way to calculate what the x is but its been a few years since I've done these..

You've got the split-screen turned on. To turn it off, press MODE to open the mode screen. Use the arrow-keys to move to the second-to-the-last line, highlight "FULL," and press ENTER. Press 2ND [QUIT] to exit the mode screen.

You probably have your calculator set to display the graph on the home screen. Try pressing MODE and going to the last option, then changing it from "Horiz" to "Full". "Horiz" means it is displaying the graph (probably without axes since your screen is otherwise blank) on half the screen.

Ti85

kinda. The TI-85 programs differently, lacks a table feature, is not upgradable, has redefinable keys, has a larger screen, is smaller, energy efficient, TI-86 semi-compatible, and is older.
The TI-84+ has archive memory, flash-upgradable, FSTN (clearer) screen, 16*8 screen, USB On-The-Go compliant, almost a centimeter longer, assembly language support, and a tad bit faster.

TI-82: $89
TI-83 Plus: $79-99
Free TI-85: $0
TI-84 plus: $119.99
TI-84+SE: $129-139
TI-89 Titanium: $149

My TI-83 is all messed up

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your TI-83. The TI-83 is a discontinued calculator, so I really don't think that it can be repaired/replaced.

See TI's website below for more information:
