Trying to change speakers from B & O to BOSE

Can you tell me if it is possible to change large speakers on a Beocenter 9000 to Bose bookshelf speakers? I understand some sort of converter would be necessary IF it is a possibility. I've been trying to get answers to this for some time, even the B & O people in San Francisco (nearest retailer) were not able/willing to help. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

The Beocenter speakers were not lower, but Bose says I could not do this.

All you need to do is to measure or look up the impedance of the speakers on the Beocenter 9000. Most speakers are either 4 or 8 ohms. Now measure or look up the impedance ot the Bose speakers. If the Bose speakers are the same or a lower number than the Beocenters, you are good to go. But, if the Beocenters speakers are a lower number than the Bose, then you should not switch speakers.

This is good. Now just hook up the speakers wires up to the reciever and it should work fine.

I have a bose 321 system. When it is plugged in, I get a pop through the 2 small speakers. The 2 small speakers work but the large one does not.

The only way to fix this it must go to Bose. They repair on sight at the factory and replacements are original, there is no authorized centre other than Bose. I would go online and check for a phone number and find out about pricing and see if service is still possible.

If your system is equipped with a tape monitor loop, you can switch the EQ out of the circuit by disengaging the tape monitor switch. If the EQ is connected to the pre-out / main-in jumper, you would have to defeat the EQ before you hook up a conventional speaker. I don't believe the EQ has a defeat switch - you'd have to rig a bypass.

Once defeated, if you have a system equipped with a Speaker A / Speaker B selector, the smaller speakers could hook up to the second system. If that's not possible, speaker switches are available for reasonable money. It is very important, though, that the 901 EQ i defeated when using conventional loudspeakers.

Sir my speaker bose 301 series v and i connect to amplifier pioneer 5 x130 watts.also i have center speaker.bose vcs10.is this compatible to good music and movie....

If they're all Bose 301-5's then you have the rare instance of matching speakers all around, so when sounds move around the room in a movie they don't change. I'm envious because even though I have Bose 901's (front) and 301's I don't have that exact match you have. The 301 sound is very good to my ears.

I assume you have them all set as LARGE speakers in the Pioneer, since they are capable of good bass and the parameter is more about Bass response than actual size.

If you added a subwoofer (which you may not need) you might fill in the lowest bass and effects channel.

Just remove the Pre-Out to Main In jumpers and connect the Active Equalizer there. This way it will affect only the power output to the amp and speakers but not to any of the Tape Loops. If you need more, look around on Fixya for 901 advice and you'll find about a million posts by me for many scenarios, including multi-channel.

Can Bose accousticmass speakers (cubes) be used directly with any AV Receiver without the need for a network of crossovers?

Hi,
yes you can use directly. Just connect the output of the speaker to the input of the receiver. it will work.

As far as I know, any equalizer will work. There is a guy on here that might know more about them, but I never had the Bose equalizer and I have Bose speakers for 35 years. The guy at the electronic store back then sold us a little equalizer at first, we graduated from that a long time ago, and now on the 3rd or 4th one. No problem, works great, sounds better than ever. Hope this helps.

Want to connect non-bose speakers to a bose lifestyle system

this is possible, however not a very good idea.
Bose speakers are designed a little different than other brand speakers, the Equalizer built into the bose system will probably not sound amazing when you hook up your other speakers. Are you looking for more bass? cleaner highs?

if you want more bass, you could try doubling up your subs, if you want cleaner highs you could buy Bose Jewel Cube Speakers (purchased from a Bose Built-Invisible Dealer

Determine the series from the label on the back and get yourself one or a pair (preferred, so they match sonically) of new woofers and replace the broken one. Carefully observe the + and - leads and replicate them on the replacements.

Sometimes you can snag a pair of whole speakers cheaply, too. Then you might end up with one spare 301 and one for parts. I use a single 301 IV as my Rear Surround, suspended on the wall behind my seating position. They also do well as Center speakers. The Series IV is also made of some kind of plastic composite which is bullet-prrof compared to the previous particle board models. I had one hit the floor from 5 feet up and it doesn't have a scratch. Get familiar with the models as they are all different in their tweeter arrangements. For example, the IV's are designed for corner placement with one tweeter facing inward at 45 degrees and one on the opposite diagonal corner of the box facing 180 degrees opposite the front tweeter, into the corner for a bank shot.
