Try This Hacked Firmware for the 360

What you need
- A PC
- Xbins Downloader 2008 (HQ Downloads)
- Winzip

Let's Get Started
1. Ok first download and install "auto_xbins_2008.zip" which I have uploaded it here on HQ for your convenience.

2. Unzip the auto_xbins_2008.zip file to your computer and start the program.

3. When you start the Xbins Downloader 2008 program, it logs you on the IRC server and takes you to the correct location all by itself.

4. When logged in you will see 2 folders in the right hand window, one (1) for Xbox(original) and one (1) for the Xbox 360.

5. Go to the 360 folder, from there you will see all the sub folders listing all the other types of files including firmware. Yes the latest ixtreme is in there.

Warning (DO NOT BE GREEDY OF YOU WILL GET BANNED) get 1 file at a time, and if you get warned leave and come back after 24 hours and go again. (Speeking from experience here).

Just drag the file from the right to the left window.

This tut is for all those that think this info is out of your reach IT IS NOT and for those who want to keep these files and locations Hush, Hush and make money from free info, and for those who hate torrents as I do.

For help on installing the files go to the HQ VIP forums here and yes become a VIP Member it helps to keep this community alive and helps pay for the site fees. (They are not free)

Games Monkey See Monkey Do freezes xbox

Hi, have same issue with this game. It seems that the patch that the xbox downloads is not compatible with newer xboxes. I've set an email to the game maker, but while we wait for them to fix it try the following work around.Clear xbox cache, then remove the internet connection from the xbox, you should now be able to use the game. Do not reconnect the internet until after you finish playing the game and remember to disconnect it each time before playing the game, otherwise you'll download the patch and have to clear the cache again.
Please let me know if this works for you, so that I can inform the game makers and hopefully get a proper solution.

My xbox 360 reads my xbox games as dvds. i can play dvds in it, but every time i put in a game the dvd play options pop up instead of game settings. I was wondering if there was a simple setting solution...

This is an uncommon problem with Xbox 360's, but I have heard of it before. I know of a few possible fixes:
  1. Eject the game you're trying to play so your drive is empty.
  2. Turn on your console.
  3. Insert the disc and see what happens.
Xbox 360's do not have the greatest DVD drives on the planet, no doubt. Another thing you could do is to connect your Xbox 360 to the internet and be sure you have the latest firmware update. This might remedy the problem. As soon as your 360 is connected, it will automatically detect if an update is needed and it will tell you it wants to download it without you having to do anything.
If neither of these work, chances are you'll need to contact Microsoft at 1-800-4MY-XBOX for technical support. If you're lucky, you're still under warranty.

Does the new xbox 360 gaming system give a free trial of the live internet access or do you have to purchase live immedieately. And is the firmare update a onetime thing, or do you have to perform this...

Hi, to answer your questions, 1 you will have to pay for xbox live you can get top up cards from most video games shops or you can pay by card, you dont have to purchase live at all if you dont plan on playing massive multi player on line games such as call of duty etc etc, you can still play these games as normal on your xbox but you can get to play other players online via the live network if you plan on challenging other players around the live network if your into playing massive online player games, you also get some bonus levels via live but these are not needed if you dont want to use live.

i have got an xbox 360 and all i use it for is playing the games as they come ive never needed to use it online as im happy enough just playing the games as they are.

now for the updates, you can either go through the live network to get the firmware updates or certain games come with the updates on them so if you dont want to use live then the xbox will update from a game, it is not something you need to do with every live game but as microsoft bring out new patches to get round bugs in their software or a new feature your xbox needs to play a certain game well you will either be sent the update via the live network if your planning on using the network or when you buy certain games the xbox will update from the game, the updates come out say every 6 months to 12 months so its not something you need to do all the time and its not something you need to be worried about because if you buy a game that needs your xbox updating then this game will update the firmware without you having to go on live network.

please let me know if you have any other questions or problems.

will give you some advice though, when you get the xbox please make sure the air vent at the bottom end of the xbox as if its lying flat, at one end you have the hard drive if it comes with one or if you buy one but the other grey plastic panel at the other end is an air vent so make sure this is not blocked as it will cause the xbox it over heat in a couple of minutes you will then have the dreaded red ring of death and need to get it sent back for repair so make sure this vent has a good 3 inches of space before anything else as the air is sucked in through this panel and at the back make sure the fans vent is not blocked as this is where the hot air will be blown out.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

please rate this solution as i have pages of unrated posts, thanks

My xbox dont play games it just plays dvds how do i fix it

1. Make sure your game discs are all clean, free of scratches, etc.

2. Test multiple games to ensure that it isn't isolated to just one or two discs

3. Unplug your 360, wait a few minutes, plug it back in, and attempt it again (full power cycles sometimes help these strange issues.)

4. Ensure you have the latest firmware upgrade (you'll need to connect the 360 to the Internet to download the latest upgrade.)

Also, if your 360 is modified in any way, this could affect your ability to play game discs, depending on the settings and the type of modification.

If above given steps do not work, kindly send yor Xbox 360 to MS support, and do not try to flash your drive at home, it would void your warranty

Xbox 360 says to play disc put it in an xbox 360 console

The box isn't loading the decoder softwarer for the Disc. The Xbox discs are encoded HD DVD-ROM discs, and the box needs to recognize them so it can load the decoder software. It probably says "play dvd" on the xbox dashboard right?
