Cannot copy photos from camera (olympus c770) to computer

When i plug the camera into the computer, the Microsoft scanner and camera wizard pops up and can read the photos. But then when i go to copy the photos onto the computer, it doesnt work and after a while, says the connection has been disconnected. I have used the camera for about a year and this has only started happening recently. Any help would be really appreciated!

Some times the usb connection on the camera gets damaged. and some times works and some don´t. it´s a very hard camera to open, just send it to a repair centre.

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER
If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Download Photo from camera to computer

Once you have the camera plugged into the USB port it should install. You should get a windows pop up asking you what to do with it, one choice will be to download (this will bring up step by step instructions). If this does not pop up, double click on Computer, then the drive letter for the camera. There is a folder there called DCIM, double click on it. All your pictures should be in this folder. Select the first phone then scroll to the last photo, hold the shift key down and select the last photo. Now hold the control and C key down to copy. Open a new folder on the C drive and then hold the control and V key down for paste. You have now copied your photos to the computer.

Sometimes the DCIM folder is in a different folder (olympus may be that case), if so look for a folder called olympus or something like that, then look for the DCIM folder here.

Hope this helps

I dont know how to transfer my pictures from my sp-600uz into my pc. could you help me please? thanks

Hello and welcome to FixYa

To upload your photos from your camera
Olympus SP600UZ Digital Camera to PC
1.First connect your digital camera to your computer.
You can do this in two different ways:

Use a USB cable:Most digital cameras come with a cable that connects the camera to a USB (Universal Serial Bus) port on your computer.
Through memory card:A memory card reader is a piece of hardware that plugs right into your computer. You remove the memory card from your camera and insert it into your memory card reader, similar to the way you might transfer a file between two computers using a floppy disk.
Now connect USB cabe or Memory card Reader to the port of the computer
2.Once you've connected your camera to your computer or inserted your memory card into your memory card reader, your computer will detect the connection and ask you what you want to do with your pictures. If you connected your camera with a USB cable, click Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard, and then click OK

If you are using a memory card reader, click Copy pictures to a folder on my computer using Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard, and then click OK.
angel_bird_9.gif

3.When the Scanner and Camera Wizard appears, click Next.
4.All of the pictures on your camera (or in your camera's memory card) are now displayed on the Choose Pictures to Copy page. By default, Windows XP selects all of the pictures for downloading. If there are pictures you do not want to download, just clear the check box next to those pictures. At this stage, you can also rotate pictures that you took while holding your camera vertically. To rotate a picture, click it, and then click either the Rotate clockwise or Rotate counterclockwise button on the lower-left side of the page. When you have reviewed the pictures for downloading and rotated your vertical pictures, click Next.

5.On the Picture Name and Destination page, type a name for the group of pictures. (This name, plus a number to differentiate each picture, will be applied to each of the pictures you download; for example, if you name the group "Vacation," the pictures will be named "Vacation001," "Vacation002," and so on.) Click Browse, and select a folder in which to save your pictures.
6.
If you want to erase the images from your camera's memory card to make space for new ones, select the Delete pictures from my device after copying them check box, and then click Next. The Scanner and Camera Wizard copies the pictures from your camera to the folder you specified and then removes the pictures from your camera's memory card.
angel_bird_11.gif

7.On the Other Options page, you can choose to publish your pictures to a Web site or order prints. If you have finished working with your pictures, click Nothing, and then click Next.
8.On the final page of the wizard, click Finish. Windows XP opens a Windows Explorer window showing the pictures you downloaded from your camera. Your camera's memory card is now clean and ready to store new pictures. If you connected your camera to your computer using a USB cable, disconnect your camera. If you used a memory card reader, return the memory card to the camera.
Your photos are now stored on your PC, ready for whatever you want to do with them, and your camera is ready to take more pictures.

I hope this solution helps you

Trying to copy photos to a folder using Microsoft Scanner & Camera Wizard. Camara is on and is connected to my PC with a USB cable, but the computer can not detect the camara.

First, check both ends of the USB cable to be sure that the ports and the plugs are properly seated so that the metal pins are able to transfer data. Restart Windows with the cables plugged in, and the camera should be recognized. You also MUST have the camera turned ON in order for the computer to read the fact that it is connected. If these suggestions fail, check your Microsoft Computer Management program to be sure that PlugnPlay devices are automatically recognized by your system.

I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DELETE PICTURES FROM THE CAMERA

Rather than delete the photos wouldn't you rather move them to your computer? Did they give you the USB cord to connect it? If so, connect it to your PC and turn the camera on. This should cause your PC to install some drivers and then the Windows connection wizard will pop up. Choose the transfer photos option and copy them to your PC. There will be a check box with the option to delete the photos from the camera after they are done copying. Check that box and when you are done the camera will be ready to take more photos.

Canon A460; Downloading pics to computer

I have the exact same camera and all I did to put my photos on the computer was plug my camera into the computer using the USB cable provided. A wizard window should pop up and click on import photos. If that doesn't work, then I'm not sure what to do. I have windows Vista, by the way.
