If you are checking to see if your port is open at canyouseeme.org something must first be listening on the port before you see SUCCESS

Try using port listener to hold it open. http://www.rjlsoftware.com/software/utility/portlistener/

The phone is intended to be connected to a Mitel PBX telephone system. If you're using the phone at home, you must set the phone in Teleworker mode and use the IP address of the teleworker server. This will allow your phone to tunnel into the phone system.

OR the phone must be set up in SIP mode. Press and hold the 6 key while booting the phone. You will also need to set it up and tell it where the SIP server is located (IP addresses).

If you don't have this information, you should contact your vendor or system admin for further assistance.

If you are trying to use the phone without the above servers, I have bad news - it won't work.

I think you need to find "Firewall Rules" section in your router in order to add/Remove a port foward rule

Here are the steps to open ports for your playstation:

1. Connect a computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports.
2. Open the browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
3. Access the router usually by typing 'http://192.168.0.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar.
4. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).
5.Click on Advance settings (under setup) and choose port forwarding
6, Add a new port address,port number etc (It is the address of your Playstation and the port to be opened)...

The most common of these are TCP and UDP ports which are used to exchange data between computers and the Internet.
In order to use some games and features on PlayStation Network the following ports should be opened:
TCP: 80, 443, 5223, and Port Range 10070 - 10080
UDP: 3478, 3479, 3658, and 10070

there is another part you will need to check. if you did everything for setting the ports on your router. you might not have opened the ports on your firewall in your computer. Under control panel in your computer. go to windows firewall, then exceptions tab and you will see remote assistance and remote desktop. check those on both computer. Hope that works for you

Hey smarter_mum,
When scanning photos with a scanner and having difficulties processing the photo's, it can be a number of problems.
1.) Make sure the Scanner's Ports are clean, blow into them and get any dust out.
2.) Make sure the Scanner's Ports are plugged in fine.
3.) Replug the scanner, and wait a couple minutes.

A nifty trick I found when Having problems such as this, is to Screenshot your photos.
What this means, if you don't already know, is if you can get the photo's to show up on your PC and just can't save them, just Hit the "prt sc" button on your keyboard, this stands for Print Screen, then open paint and hit CTRL + V, or Right-Click and Paste. This will enable you to save it in paint, and then just open it as a .JPG file. the PRT SC button is right above the Backspace button usually, and if your on a laptop, you will have to hit FN which is to the left of the spacebar, hold FN and hit prt sc.

Actually you need to open the port on the cable modem / router. Switches just pass the packets along.

fixed the problem by typing in the address bar the make and model of the router and portfowarding EG: netgear nbm814x portforwarding
looked at the list of sites that had info on it a picked one and read carfully the information. did the portfowarding and set up a static ip address
works fine now

Ya have to "Open a Port" or "Port Foward" to allow your SMTP and POP3 services to communicate with the Server.. so find out what "Ports" ya need open and using the Admin interface change them to allow your emails to work. This info is generally found in the Manual of the router or online.. And OR your firewall hust be set to pass them on thru too..
