Question about Philips Magnavox MS2530C 25" TV

1 Answer

TV turned upside down

I recently moved my 32" Magnavox down two flights of stairs alone. In the process I turned it upside down and even slid it a bit on it's top. Now when I turn it on, it comes on for a second or two with a bad picture (screwy colors) and then the screen goes blank. If you change channels this repeats. Is this a degaussing problem? Will the automatic degausser(sp?)take care of it? Would only an idiot turn a tv on it's head?

Re: TV turned upside down

Well its not a good Idea to carry a TV set turned upside down because of the heavy parts mounted on the board could cause stress and crack the printed circuit board. This what most likly happened. The PC board is cracked. If you have no soldering skills and do not know how to work on printed circuits or solid state devices, you should seek the help of a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck.

We did not find results for: Sony Trinitron KV-36HS510 worked until we carried up 2 flights of stairs and now it does not turn on and blinks either 6 or 7 times. Is something losemed.

  1. Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.
Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits

Remote controls will intermittently work

Hey, I would definitely recommend trying all the options mentioned above however sometimes it might never work correctly again (the remote control that is) and it might've been a defective remote control to begin with. Anyways, I had a few friends that have been in similar situations, and usually they won't even bother and went on the internet to find a replacement remote control. What they have done and probably what I would do if I was in that situation is head on over to a replacement remote control website like and look through their directories for that specific model Toshiba 32HFX72, and they should have what you are looking for in stock!

Why won't my tv turn on?

Could be a hellotuv things, starting with the power supply. You could unplug it for the night(pull the plug out), and try in the morning, but if you want a more in depth answer you should include a bit more detail if possible. Such as, how did it start, is the standby light on, do you hear any noises/see anything from the TV when trying to turn it on, does the TV have any repair history, did you have a recent power outtage etc'. Post back and we'll do our very best ;]
