Re: can only scan simplex or duplex
The scanner can scan in either simplex or duplex mode only. If blank page is scanned, then it will appear BLANK, else someone would say, my scanner is not scanning properly! Remove balnk pages using software or sort on file size and delete the small sized files. Take care to ensure they are really blank.

IF you are using CapturePerfect 3. version, you can select "Auto detection" for page size, and under 'more' select 'image size' instead of guide plate. Also you may have to select option '1' under user code U10 in case you want to scan pages over 17 inches long. (Press Newfile and Countonly simultaneously, press 'newfile' till you get U10, press 'countonly' and select 1. This will enable scanning upto 1 meter long).
CP3 has "Skip Blank page option", this helps you to automatically delete blank pages on the back side and scan only those with data.

Hi, are you using Scannedallpro software? If so, press the batch scan setting button (2nd right after the white drop down menu). This will give you access to your settings. Select add, name your new profile appropriately, then select SCAN, Click SHOW CONFIRMATION WHEN NO PAPER IN ADF, then click on Detail Scanner Settings. This will take you to your options screen. Select either Duplex, for double sided or ADFFront side for single sided. You can choose to drop out blanks by clicking on the OPTION button at the bottoms of the screen, then JOB/CACHE, click the selection button for Blank Page Skip and choose the sensitivity. (I usually use a low setting). Click OK.
when happy with your settings click OK again, then apply.
Use your new profile to batch scan. The system will scan until the hopper is empty and should ask if you want to continue with the same batch scan, allowing you to add paper until the job is complete.
NB Always ensure you have selected Multi Page Tagged Image File Format as the system will not save your scan as one document without it.
I changed the settings from duplex (double sided) scanning to simplex (single sided) scanning under the settings tab in the scansnap organiser. this was ok since i had all one-sided documents to scan. you would need to reverse this settings change anytime you have a double-sided document to scan.
If the scanner is scanning but stops after a few pages either it could be because of a) There is insufficient disk space (you need to delete unwanted files or direct the comp to store whre there is space) or b) the rubber rollers are not able to separate pages and feed the papers for scanning.(You need to change the rollers)
You may be set for front & back (duplex) scanning. Change the setting for front only or simplex. This could be done with check/uncheck boxes, a drop-down menu, or a keyboard shortcut. I believe the standard Kodak settings are via check boxes.
This model is also capable of putting out color & bitonal (black&white) images simultaniously. If that's the case the pages should be separate image files. Uncheck either color or bitonal depending on which you want.
If the line appears in the same location, it is definitely dust sticking to the glass. How thick is it? If it is thick, it may be because of an LED failed to glow, but this is etremely rare. If you are getting line in Duplex mode and not in simplex mode, it is on the second scanning module! Try cleaning with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA). If you have been scanning old documents which tend to break like biscuit or get powdery, a speck can enter into the scanning area and create trouble.
