I need a repair guide for a LiftMaster garage door opener.

I would like to replace a worn drive gear (Part No. 41A2817) for Model No. 1265LMC.

I am not sure of the best way to proceed.

I replaced the gear and shaft, easier than just the gear and only about $10 more. You get a new chain gear too and bearings. Here are the complete printed instructions scanned in, along with my experience doing it and big photos, on a webpage I made.

If you buy the part it comes with instructions. The part number for the gear is 41A2817. Part number 41C4220A is the Gear & Sprocket assembly and is easier to replace. You might want to get it. You can get either part at any good door opener service company in the yellow pages.
