Question about Proview HX303 30 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

Open Question

Screen turns pink tint when trying to watch movies.

1.)  I have hooked up my PS3 to my proview 3200 lcd tv. HD cable and all. But when I put a movie in the screen was pink. The same thing happened when I tried my dvd player. But when I hooked up the HD cable it went away and worked fine. What do I do to get rid of the pink tint so I can view it normally. It looks great when I play games.
2.)  When I put my satellite box to my tv I do not get HD channels. There is a grey rectangular shape on both sides from the top to the bottom, rather than the black strips. I have already tried adjusting to 720p and 420p and 1080i but none of it works. When I press the button on the box for 420p it takes up the whole screen but to the right and i can ony see the bottom.

    • Same problem. Cable with HDMI works great. Games are great. But when I try to play movies I get a pink hue. Also, sometimes the screen gets that snowy look and blinks on and off. I have had my PS3 hooked up to my 42"Westinghouse LCD for 5 months and only recently have I had this problem.

I have the the exact same problem with my Westinghouse TX-42F430S. I didn't have any problems for approximately five months, but, suddenly, the sound went out when using an HDMI cable and all the movies I try to play start out in a pink hue. I have found that if I repeatedly unplug and then replug the HDMI cable, sooner or later, the correct color will appear. Sometimes, though, it will have a snowy screen and just flash from snowy to black and back.

Unfortunately, the only solution I've found is to plug the HDMI cable into all of the HDMI ports until the picture shows up correctly, which is a very poor solution.

yesterday, 01/21/2009, my westinghouse 42" 1080p set went pink with blu-ray movies and no sound from my PS3 and perfect picture but no sound with my games!!! This is obviously a recurring problem after i searched it!!! my set is over a year old and has had my PS3 hooked to it for a while but just started doing this!!! I am dumbfounded and amazed i didn't know bout this before or i would have purchased a differnet TV set!!!

I have a westinghouse 42 in 1080p with a ps3 hooked up to it, yesterday when i tried to play a blu ray disk on my ps3 the picture came out pink tinted. Following the advise of what i saw online, i unplugged and replugged the HDMI cable from the ps3 to the tv a few times and it eventually corrected itself, then had no sound, had to do it again to get BOTH sound and picture... whats going on?

Maybe the input on the tv needs to be adjusted to work with the cable tv for example in the tv menu where you can adjust the sources for the inputs maybe it is set to something like RGB instead of HDMI. If you have a user manual consult it on how to change the input devices. Good luck.

SOURCE: proview rx 326 model 3200 tv sound but no picture

I just fixed my proview 3200 that doesn't have picture but with sound.
First, thanks for the tips I got from this forum. I checked the 24v from the power supply board and that's perfectly working fine. I then check the fuses in the Inverter board. There are 4 white fuses (2amp I guess, i cant remember) and 1 black fuse (1amp/76v just behind the wire connector going to the power supply board). The black fuse is the one that blown out on my tv. This fuse supplies power to the LM358A IC. I know its not right but I just solder a thin piece of wire to short circuit this fuse. I'm lazy to drive to RadioShack to find this fuse. :)
....and that worked beautifully. Check the picture attached for what I did.

No, There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

It sounds like you may not be on the correct input selection on the tv to watch the dvd player. Ther are probably three or four inputs to choose from on your tv. whichever input you hooked the dvd player into on the tv is the same imput you have select using the tv's remote control in order to watch movies on the dvd player.

I posted to your problem with a similar one. I was able to get my PS3 to work by:

1.) Powering down both the PS3 and ViewSonic LCD
2.) Unplugging the power cables to both PS3 and LCD
3.) Waiting at least 10 or more seconds
4.) Plugging in the power cables to both PS3 and LCD
5.) Turning on the ViewSonic LCD
6.) Turning on the PS3 and holding down the power button until the beep

After this sequence I heard the bootup audio and the menu appeared on the screen- which detected the HDMI connection to my LCD.

Very odd.. I've had my PS3 in the same place for months and just today this happened.

I wanted to post my success. Best of luck!

Green tint to picture when dvi cable is connected

The tv will show correctly in 720p mode. Cable box and PS3 must be set to display in 720p or the green tint will remain. For the PS3 I return it to 1080p when I am about to play a game, blu-rays and dvd's can only play in 720p.

Wavy picture after hooking up component switch

What you are using is probably an active switch. Many of the movies have macrovision protection. The active switch is having problems to deal with sync pulses from the video containing the macro vision protection.

it depends on what your using it for, adjust colour tones to what you think looks natural, contrast between 80-90, keep sharpness below 30. just have a play around till you find what best suits the source material.
