Re-attaching Rubber Seal from Frigidaire Front load Washer

I replaced the tub assembly on my Frigidaire Gallery Front Load washer because the bearing was shot. I replaced the whole assembly, which included a new stainless steel drum. To remove the old assembly from the washer, I had to detach the rubber inside the front door that attaches to the assembly and seals it. It appears to have been held on there by a round, hoop spring. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to re-attach the rubber seal to the new tub assembly and then put the spring back on to hold it. There is an awful lot of rubber there and I don't know where it all goes.

Help....

SOURCE: front load washer

Hitchhiker, you don't have to remove the front of the washer. The original boot was glued in areas around the door. They came out with a new design because of water leakage on the bottom. The new kit, part number 5303937187 comes with a spring that holds it on to the panel. You can do one or two things, if you don't have the leaking problem, glue the boot back on. Or you can order the new kit, it comes with instructions and replace the whole boot. Check it out, it might be covered under service flash #26-758BR. In any event this job can be done by leaning the washer back against the wall to make room between the tub and front panel. You are going to need an assist, it's better with 2 people. Catriver...post back.

SOURCE: the rubber round my washing machine door is black and smells

common problem with that style machine. Try running a cup of vinegar thru te wash cycle. The acid from the vinegar will break it down. It may take more than one cycle if its really bad. Once the smell is gone leave the door slightly ajar to prevent it from happenig again.

My Frigidaire FWT645RHSO front load washer sounds like a propeller airplane when it spins...HELP!

Robin, it sounds like the tub bearings may be going out on your machine. With the washer empty, reach inside at the top and gently lift the inner stainless steel tub. Does it move up and feel like there is some slop or play in the tub. If the bearings are tight, the inner tub will not move much at all independently of the complete outer tub assembly.
Have you noticed any grease on any clothes recently? Usually what happens is the water seal fails and the water eventually washes the grease out of the bearings and they fail.
Depending on your skill level, there are some good online blogs about tub bearing replacement. You may not want to deal with it. You have to make the call on that. Thats my 2 cents worth. Good luck.

Frigidaire gallery series Model GLGH42FS1 stackable washer leaking

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Water Inlet Valve
If the hose connections are good to the water inlet valve check that water is not leaking from the valve itself it is replace the water inlet valve.

Drain Pump
Check the drain pump housing and all hose connections. The drain pump is down under neath. To disassemble your washer follow the appropiate tutorial. Hoses can be tightened. If hoses or pump housing is leaking replace the pump assembly.

Tub Seal
This is in the center of the tub. The seal is inexpensive but will require some labor to install. Check the tutorials on disassembling the cabinet then remove the agitater and inner tub. Enter your model # above for a diagram or illustration.

Can you replace just the rear bearing on a frigidaire "gallery" series front loading washer without having to replace the rear drum half as well. if so where can i buy just the bearing?

Hi, Welcome to FixYa. I theory...yes it can be done. The problem lyes in 1) finding just the bearing & seal... and 2) the shaft of the inner stainless steel basket is likely going to be badly worn or "scored" as a result of the bearing failing. I always replace the entire assembly, but if the bearing and seal where available seperately it would still require the inner basket and a complete tear-down and just as much labour ( or more likely ) it is less expensive to do the complete assembly. I'll leave that with you, let me know if I can assist you further. Macmarkus :)

Where is the rear bearing located so i can grease it

The rear bearing is not accessible to grease. If you have a noisey spin that sounds like it is coming from the bearing it will have to be replaced. Most tub bearings on front loaders are preinstalled with the outer tub assembly. It is a major job to overhaul a front loading machine, requiring outer tub assembly, water seal kit and possibly tub gaskets. If not under a warranty it is not economical to repair.

Dirt streaks appear after laundering

Grease seal for the bearings need to be replace. Unless you are a DIYer this is an expensive repair. Labor to install a new grease seal is about 400 to 500 dollars depending on the area. Parts will run about 100 to 150 dollars. The grease seal is cheap about a $10.00 part, but since ypou have the washer torn apart, and the grease seal has fail, you should also replace the bearings.

Frigidaire front loading washer makes a clinking noise

It sounds like your tub bearings are starting to go bad. Mine sounded like airplane taking off. Once the seal goes bad, water tends to migrate into the bearing cavity and flush the grease out of the bearings and then they wear quickly.
You have to completely remove the tub assembly to take it apart. Some say get a new washer, but I only paid $60 for the 2 bearings and a seal from a bearing house. They are even cheaper online.
You may as well try and fix it, worst case the junk yard doesn't care if it's in pieces when you bring it to them. I have no idea what an appliance repairman would charge to fix it.
If I remember right the seal is a 80mmx40mmx10mm metric seal. I found a rubber coated one from SKF I believe. The bearings should be 6306-2rs and 6307-2rs, but I would not buy anything till you have it apart. The bearings knock out easily.
INFO-Mine had -2z bearings installed which are only shielded bearings. The -2rs bearings hold up much better to water exposure in case the new seal leaks in the future.

If you want the exact seal part number, I can get it off my paperwork, Just write back.
I saw somewhere on an appliance blog that had step by step pictures of the procedure.

Frigidaire front load washer FWT449GFS1 grinding sound

If the tub seal lets go water will weep into the tub bearing. This will rust the basket shaft and normally wreck the tub bearing. Once the bearings starts to get worn enough it usually gets very noisy. The tub bearing is pressed onto the outer back half of the tub shell assembly. Normally need to replace the inner basket/shaft assembly and the outer shell with the tub bearing.

Leaks water

Okay, to check for your source of a leak, start by removing the 2 screws on the lower front panel of the machine. This will let you see inside. As you are running the washer, watch where the water is coming from. If from the front, you may have a hole in your boot (the black rubber up front) If so, you may need to replace the boot (the part comes with step by step instructions). If coming from the middle, your tub seal may be going bad. A quick fix is tighten the 12 or 14 bolts that go all of the way around your tub. This will only be a temporary measure. The tub will have to be taken apart and the seal replaced. (this is a 1 1/2 hour - 2 hour procedure for 2 technicians) If it leaking from the rear, you may have a bad tub bearing. You can remove the back panel to be certain, but usually a bad bearing will be accompanied by a roaring noise durring the spin cycle. As for the dryer leaving brown marks? Usually the front seal has been dammaged. Run your finger around the front of the drum (where it meets the front panel) the gap should be about the same all of the way around. If it is not, you may need a new front seal. (this is much cheaper and less time consuming on the dryer compared to a seal on the washer)

Front Loading Washer LOUD NOISE

IF IT ROARS LIKE A JET PLANE TAKING OFF, THE SPIN BEARING IS FAILING. PROBABLY, THE REAR SEAL HAS FAILED ALLOWING WATER TO GET INTO THE BEARING.
THE BEARING HAS LOST ITS LUBRICATION SO IT IS GETTING DRY. IT WILL CONTINUE TO GET LOUDER AND LOUDER THE LONGER REPAIRS ARE PUT OFF.
THE ENTIRE BACK HALF OF THE OUTER TUB WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE BEARING IS PART OF THAT ASSEMBLY. CAN BE A COSTLY REPAIR.
