Question about Holmes Products HAP422G-U Air Purifier
I just changed the HEPA filters on this product, and the red light indicating a new filter is needed still will not turn off. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you.
I owned the previous model of the same unit with the hole for the paperclip. But it wore out and I replaced it with the HAP422 and found the same issue; no hole to "reset" the light. I was just fooling with it and determined that "some" switch would reset it and finally held the power on button on for a few seconds, after which, the red light flashed and then went out. Problem solved. BUT THERE IS NOT ONE WORD IN THE MANUAL TO TELL YOU THIS! WHY NOT?

Usually on holmes purifiers there is a small hole in which you need to insert a paper clip or similar to reset the filter replacement indicator - it should be labelled "reset", but i couldn't find exact instructions for your model. Contact these guys for more details if you have trouble locating the reset - some models use a combination of control buttons to reset them; http://www.holmesproducts.com/ContactUs.aspx Hope this helps :)

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.
You may need to check the conditions of the filter and replace it if necessary. After replacing the filter, press and hold the filter reset button for 3 seconds under power on condition. The indicator life will blink 3 times and turn off.

Omg...thank you so much! i replaced the filters in two units...and the red lights wouldnt go off (if it was just one unit i might have thought it was just broken)...anyway...i googled for HOURS to try to find a way to reset this red light...the only thing that kept comping up for the HAP422 was to stick a paperclip/safety pin in a little NON-EXISTENT hole! im not sure why this thread didnt come up until i actually added the "BRC" to the end of the HAP422 (this model is not on holmes' website any longer and ive since lost the manual, i found the full model name on the bottom of the unit)...just wanted to share that holding down the power button for a few seconds until the red light blinked while the unit was on worked...lights are off...woohoo!!! :)

I held down the power button, while it was running, for about 3 seconds. The indicator light started blinking and then turned off. I have a HAP422.

I had the same problem, so I contacted customer service and they recommended the following. It worked for me, so I wanted to share with everyone: To reset the filter check indicator light, press and hold down the on/off button for 20-25 seconds while the unit is on and running.

The Intelli-Check™ Filter Monitors will indicate replacement of the pre-filter and the
HEPA filter. Depending upon your individual usage (environment and hours used),
you may need to check and replace the filters more or less frequently.
To check Expected Filter Life Usage
When the unit is turned on, quickly press the appropriate filter monitor button. The
pre-filter light will flash up to 3 times and the HEPA filter light will flash up to 4 times,
depending upon how much expected filter life has been used.
1 flash = from new, up to 1/3 expected life used up
2 flashes = between 1/3 and 2/3 expected life used up
3 flashes = between 2/3 and all of expected life used up
Remains on = time to check/replace pre-filter
1 flash = from new, up to 1/4 expected life used up
2 flashes = between 1/4 and 1/2 expected life used up
3 flashes = between 1/2 and 3/4 expected life used up
4 flashes = between 3/4 and all of expected life used up
Remains on = time to check/replace HEPA filter
To RESET Filter Monitor
When the filter monitor light remains on, it is time to check/replace the filter and reset
the filter monitor, if needed. With the unit powered on, press and hold the appropriate
filter monitor button down for approximately 5 seconds until the light turns off.
Depending upon your individual usage (environment and hours
