TV turned on and was running fine for about 15 minutes when it suddenly turned to a green screen. Picture is still slightly visable through the green. Have tried adjusting the color, brightness, etc with no results. Is there anything I can do short of taking it to a technician to fix it?

To clarify the repair the video board sets upright verticile that plugs onto the (main board) horizontal with locking tabs just lift up off clean pins with emery board spray socket with abrasive cleaner called (blue stuff )
I also checked for bad solder connections on the crt board and resoldered some connections on main board where the pins go in to the upright video board I hope this clarification is more complete

If you can still see the video and some fine white lines running diagnally across the screen, it is very likely the picture tube itself which would likely be covered under warranty. If it is a solid green screen with no video, it could be a defective driver transistor or IC going to the picture tube.

We have a panasonic ct-36d31e that has developed a degaussing problem now. Rainbow colors - magnets haven't helped neither has power drill placed near the screen. Is there a degauss button on this model...

Hi Tracy,
Unfortunately magnets etc will most likely do all but improve the problem. When a T.V set is turned on it automatically degausses (demagnetises) the tube. However, if the screen does not degauss, its most likely a small electronic component in the degaussing circuit which has burnt out. This component is usually black in color, is rectangular and about the size of of the T.V. screen displayed alongside your question. Its inexpensive to replace(less than $5) and can be found at most electronic component stores.
Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
Best wishes,
Graemevm

Lightning changed colors on my TV

You need to degauss the CRT, there is a built in degaussing coil but its needs more power . this is simply magnetizm that needs to be removed . see if you can before a coil somewhere.gd lk

Color problems??

There doesn't happen to be a speaker nearby does there? I've seen this a lot with center channel surround sound speakers. It goes like this because of the magnet in the speaker. Try moving the speaker if there was one (or anything else near the TV that may have a magnetic field). Then, every time after you turn your tv on it should get slightly better thanks to the built-in degaussing coil in your tv. If not, find a TV/Appliance repair man near you, and he will have what's called a De-gausser and will probably charge around $30 to use it on your tv. You'll be watching 2D TV again in no-time!! ;-)

Color problem with the samsung 46" PCK520R TV

There are a few possible causes for this

-Picture tube has become weak after long useage
-A fault with the automatic degauss circuit could be causing the color problems.
-The color drive circuits may be out of adjustment.

I don't have instructions for you on how to fix this, I would recommend you either buy premium assistance or contact
another expert with long tv experience to possibly get details
on how to correct this problem.

I would recommend you contact your dealer for repairs if you have warranty. If you don't have warranty it may be cheaper to ask around.

Tv color messed up

There is the chance that the yoke has sliped and a purity adjustment is in order, since you would be dealing with voltages that could kill you if you don't know haw to do this the safest bet would be to take it to the shop

Color problem with TV

Are you getting Green or purple or pink patches all over the screen?
This could be a problem of Degaussing. Have you placed any Magnetic source near the TV recently? Some Tape recorder or walkie talkie or a Speaker, etc? The Magnetic field created by any of the above sources can cause coloured patches over a colour TV screen.
It also happens if you shift the TV from one location to another.

The third possibility is that the Picture Tube's Red Output stage gone faulty. Unless you are a trained Solid state Electronics Technician, there is nothing you can do. Better go for a trade in.

Re Degaussing

Now Degaussing and convergence are two different things, if you say its degaussing then you should have just a color differential in a certain area, meaning the color should not be arched, everything that passes through should pass throu only with the changing of color. Now if its a convergence the the color may lift upward in an arch, likely separated from the other colors, Red, Blue,or Green. So now which do you think you have? Deguassing usually give you a highish green color or yellow
