Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
If you remove the front faceplate (does not void warranty) you there's a hole below eigther on the right or left depending on your model, where you can push in a paperclip and manually eject the dvd

if you do send it back with a game, microsoft is really good at returning the game, so don't worrie about it.
now you shouldn't have to worry.
Opening the tray without power will require you to open the xbox.
