I've removed the one screw showing at the back and pulled off half the front faceplate. The silver bit won't come off. I can see screws under it but it feels like its screwed on itself. I've removed one rubber foot from the bottom but no screw under it. I cannot find a service manual anywhere. Want to upgrade the RAM and change the disk drive. Just stuck at the opening stage!

- Thankyou for your swift reply. If its the screw I thik you're talking about, I definitely do not have the tool to open it! Do you know which number torx screwdriver I need for it? I have three torx screwdrives but they're all the wrong size and don't have a hole in the middle which this one seems to need as the middle of the screw is like a pin. Any more help would be much appreciated! :-)
if you look at the back of the workstation you will find a hidden screw next to the air vents, locate and unscrew, the casing should slide back away from the front and lift off to access the optial drive and ram
The front, top and sides come off forwards. No screws to undo, hold it with the silver face towards you, tip the front up, push in the side buttons and pull towards you whilst pushing the buttons at the side.
I just removed the one screw on the back (dont think it was needed) and push the buttons on the side, the whole top part should slide forward (its not the screw with the pin in the middle) I did push a scredriver under the top from the back to give it some wiggle room. it was a very snug fit

I have a gateway gm5478 model pc with a 22inch lcd gateway fpd2275w monitor(purchased 12/07) for family use and the monitor started giving me the no signal display about 3-4 months ago and has increased in frequency to the point now that I once it happens I can't get it to recognize the computer. Did all the usual fixes reset and powered everything down, disconnected and then reconnected after a couple of minutes.

Hello, new problem. My uncle has asked me to fix his iWin media player. It plays it all and has an inbuilt fm transmission to listen to his music through his stereo. However, he only had it about a week and the screen froze on the menu. Same problem over and over. I've tried upgrading the firmware from firmware I've downloaded but its not specific to iWin and now the screen just shows white. I'm aware that this company don't have the most magnificent reputation but really want to do this for my uncle as he's done so much for me. Anybody any idea what chip is in the thing. Cannot get the board out of the shell at all, think its superglued in! Any help would be great. Ps, its still possible to access the files stored on it through the computer and also it does still power up, its not dead yet!!!
