Continuous blinking green light on WS-55511

Hello Slinteriors. I have the same issue as the one posted by bcarlisle266 on Sep 16, 2008. It looks as though you emailed a solution but didn't say what it was. From your other posts I'm going to assume you recommend the repair of the capacitors on the DM board?
I pulled the board out last night but was surprised to see no bulges at all in the 7 capacitors on the board. I realize they could still be bad but had hoped for some sort of a visual confirmation.
Do you still think this is the best try for the same conditions bcarlisle266 stated of the continual blinking light? I am also unable to get any sort of an error code using the panel buttons. Please let me know what you think. I can be contacted at bansheetod@yahoo.com
Thanks for the help

I have the same problem with the blinking light. Through all of the research on the internet it says that there are 7 capacitors. I can only find 4 of them. where are they?

I replaced the caps in my55511 and worked great for a couple of days, then trouble, now it needs to be reset (with a pushpin in the front, or unplugged) every day to work. Also I cant turn off the CC in digital mode(HD) it wont let me courser over to turn it off.. but when its on it looks great!

    Thanks for any insight!

Storm went through last night and power went on and off a few times, I now have the famous blinking light. Is it the DM power
board or the larger DM board underneath? The DM power board has 7 electrolytic caps 1000 micro farad @ 16v.

I have the same problem with the blinking green light.Where is the DM board located and how do I remove it.

  • ragraf Mar 27, 2009

I note the caps are just barely bolged as the H patern on top is slightly rounded. I will be replacing them next week.

    Thanks all.

I had similar issue, but it was the front control panel, not the Caps. I had to just unplug the key panel and it works fine now. There are 2 connectors, a smaller white one and a larger black on. Disconnect the smaller white. You will have to use the remote, but it should fix.

Would you mind giving me a little more information regarding this front control panel fix? Do you just take off the front panel? or go deeper? I have taken a pic

I changed the 7 capacitors on the board and my tv works again

I used http://www.chrisandnat.com/temp/BlinkingTV.pdf as a reference because it has pictures and it gave me something to reference. This one has only 4 capacitors and WS55511 has 7. make sure to get the same capacitors specs as the ones it has installed.

Good luck and thank you all for the info.

Yes often the caps will show no outward appearance of bulging. I would replace them and also check the two fuses on the board as well

Ws-55511 green light changed caps. where is pico fuse located ?

There are at least two pico fuses in the DM unit along with the caps; DM is large metal box on left as you look from behind.

Blinking green light that does not stop means problem is in DM unit that is not booting up.

If you have questions let me know.

I have a WS-55511 rear projection TV. We had a power outage in the area and the TV will not power at all. Could this be a blown fuse?

if the green power light just blinks that is one issue==========if the green power light does not come on at all suspect a fuse----follow the power cord (set unplugged) into the set and plug in ac fuse is right there.

If you have the blinking light that will not stop it means the DM unit in the set was damaged and that is expensive.

If you need more information or have questions let me know with a comment here.

We just got a used Mitsubishi WS-55511 55in. Rear projection Television. There is a green light blinking on the front by the power button, and the tv does not come on?

very easy repair caused by failed DM capacitors. You can get the WS55511 DM repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com which has the upgraded capacitors and the CD with repair instructions which should solve that issue.

Mitsubishi ws-55511 does not turn on

Listen: you need to wait for the set to first shut off! then push on the TV(not the remote) Input and Menu both at the same time for 5 seconds and then release---the power light will then blink---this model has this feature--

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD “device” and “menu” buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC’s is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY

Press in together the menu button and the Device/input button on the set and hold them both in together for 5 seconds and see if the led will blink a two digit error code, then respond to this same post and let me know if it gave a error code and what the two digits were.
