The E in the model # means it is electric. It would start with LGR if it was gas.

Starts and runs for a few minutes and then just quits?

Hello Larry;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

You have not provided a model number so I do not know if you have an electric or gas dryer. Your model number may be on a label when you open the door.

In general:

1.) Air Flow Problem - Over time lint accumulates in both your hot air distribution manifold as well as you wall air duct. This will shut you down.

2.) Week Ignitor (Gas Dryers) - The ignitor in a gas dryer will glow red. The ignitor can glow red yet not have enough power to open your gas valve.

3.) High Temperature Thermal Switch or Fuse - In both electric and gas dryers you have a high temperature thermal fuse or switch. In either case, when this component is bad and reads any temperature, high or low, it will shut you down.

That is all I can tell you without knowing your dryer model number.

I have a whirlpool dryer model #len 2000pgo and my wash doesnt get dry but dryer gets warm ...not hot like it should. what could be wrong???

Is this a gas or an electric dryer as the model number doesn't match any dryer and depending on gas or electric it can be very different things that are wrong. The gas dryer will probably need a new set of coils but I need to know what kind of dryer it is to narrow down the exact problem. Please let me know and I would be glad to help you fix this as fast as possible.

Dryer will not get hot

Is this a GAS Dryer? Or, an ELECTRIC Dryer? If this is an ELECTRIC dryer, the following link will give you some advice on how to troubleshoot a no heat problem: http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576548-dryer_runs_but_does_not_heat If this is a GAS dryer, the most common failure for heat related problems in a gas dryer is a weak or blown igniter on the burner assembly. The way the ignition system is supposed to work is like this: 1. Select the dryer cycle and press start. 2. The drum begins to spin and the igniter begins to glow. 3. Once the igniter reaches a certain current potential, the gas safety valve opens. 4. Gas is introduced into the manifold and you have ignition. NOTE: It can take roughly 30 ? 90 seconds from the time you start the dryer to the time it takes for the gas to ignite. NOTE: This is a designed safety feature of the appliance that prevents free flowing gas from accumulating in your home without ignition. That?s why you typically don?t hear any gas flowing when you have an igniter problem. You might think you have a gas problem when actually you have an ignition problem. You can purchase replacement parts (if required) at any of the following websites: searspartsdirect.com pcappliancerepair.com appliancepartspros.com repairclinic.com The first three sites on the list also offer some excellent exploded view diagrams of the appliance. If you have any questions, please post back with your complete model number and let me know. For future reference, always include a brand name and model number when posting questions. This makes it much easier to diagnose the problem. I hope this helps you.

Dryer won't heat

Hi! donj56
There are a lot of challenges in checking the electrical system. If this dryer has a traditional timer it is best to find the circuit diagram included inside the dryer. Consult the diagram and make sure you have the same voltage on the input of the timer and then on the circuit feed to the igniter. The case is a good ground so you do not need to connect to the Neutral. Let me know the dryer model number? Is the dryer in a high humidity environment? Also, how old is the dryer?
